Try it yourself
- Tap your shop name at the top left. The shop menu opens.
- Tap View storefront. Your shop page opens.
- Tap Add or the + button on an item.
- Tap the bar at the bottom. It says Checkout or View cart. Your basket opens.
For the bar and the rest of your shop page, see What customers see on your shop page.
You can go all the way to the end and place a real order. Then cancel it. See Place a test order.
The basket
At the top, the basket shows your logo, your shop name and a line like "Your basket · 2 items". Add items takes the customer back to your shop.
An empty basket says "Your basket is empty", with a button like Browse Aisha's Kitchen.
Notices
One box can show at the top of the basket:
- "Aisha's Kitchen isn't taking orders right now." You turned off Accepting orders. See Pause and restart orders.
- "Aisha's Kitchen is closed right now." It also says when you open. See Set your opening hours.
- "Aisha's Kitchen is closed now." with "Order now and pick a time at checkout." You are closed, but you take pre-orders. See Take orders for later.
- "1 price went up since you added it." You changed a price, or a sale ended.
- "Something ran out while you were checking out." The customer fixes the basket, then goes back. Their details and slip are kept.
- "Your details are kept." The customer came back from checkout to change the basket. Checkout is the last page, where customers place the order.
Items
Each item shows its photo, name, choices, price and a − and + counter. At 1, the − button is a bin that takes the item out. Customers then see a line like "Removed Juice" with Undo for a moment.
If an item has a problem, a line under it says what to fix:
- "Sold out." or "No longer sold here." with Remove.
- "Only 2 left. You have 3." with Set to 2.
The item may also show "Price went up, was MVR 40" or "Sale ended, was MVR 40".
Under the items, a bar can say how much more to add, like "Add MVR 20 more for free delivery". It comes from your minimum order and free delivery amount. A row of your items can show under it, like "Popular at Aisha's Kitchen". See Set where you deliver and your fees.
Where it goes
A card says Delivery to and the customer's island, or Pickup from and your shop. If your fee depends on the island, the card says "Pick your island". The customer taps it, and a list called Where should it go? opens. The fee and the total change to match the island.
The card also says when the order comes, like "Next delivery run is today, 4 pm to 6 pm". For pickup, it says "The shop calls you when it is ready to collect". See Set delivery days and times.
Order summary and promo code
The summary shows each charge: "Items (2)", Delivery (or Pickup "Free"), your extra charge, GST, and the Total. It also says how customers can pay, like "Pay by bank transfer or PayPal, or cash when it arrives."
Customers tap Add a promo code, type the code in the Promo code box and tap Apply. A code on your shop's banner (a coloured strip above your items) is added by itself, as "Shop offer SAVE10". See Make a promo code.
To change the charges, see Add a service charge, Add GST to your prices and Show prices in US dollars.
The main button
The big button at the bottom says what to do next. Most of the time it says Check out. It can also say:
- Fix 1 item: an item has a problem. The button scrolls to it.
- Add MVR 20 more: the basket is under your minimum order.
- Pick your island: the customer must pick their island first.
- Check out for pickup: the basket is under your delivery minimum, so it can only be picked up.
- Order for later: you are closed, but you take pre-orders.
- Ask the shop: you are not taking orders. It opens a message to you.
- Back to checkout: the customer came back from checkout.
Checkout
Checkout is one page with three steps: Getting it, You and Pay. The open step has a title. A finished step folds into one line with Change. The button at the bottom always names the next thing to do, like Next: your details or Next: pay.
Getting it
The title is "How do you want it?". When you offer more than one way, customers tap one:
- Delivery, with your fee, like "MVR 30" or "Free".
- Pickup, "Free".
- Ferry, with its price.
- Air cargo, with its price.
- Dine-in, "Eat at the shop".
Only the ways you turn on show. Air cargo shows when you turned it on and have a bank account or PayPal. If the basket is under your delivery minimum, Delivery, Ferry and Air cargo are grey and say "From MVR 100". See Choose how customers get their order.
For Delivery, customers fill in:
- Island: picked for them if you deliver to one island only.
- House or building.
- Floor, if you turned on Doorstep delivery. With it off, customers see "The rider meets you downstairs" and "This shop doesn't deliver up to your door." See Deliver up to the door.
- Landmark (optional).
For the other ways, see:
If you take pre-orders, a When row shows As soon as possible and Pick a time. Customers pick a day and a time. See Take orders for later.
You
The title is "Who is it for?". Customers fill in Name and Phone. For delivery, they can tap Add a second number. They can leave a note, with buttons like "Call when you're here" and "WhatsApp me first". You see the note on the order.
A customer who ordered before on the same phone sees their details filled in. On Pay, a card says "Same as your last order", with Change links. The bottom button then says Deliver to and their building, or Yes, I'll pick up. They tap it to say the details are right.
If you make tax invoices, customers also see Buying for a business?. See Bills and GST: tax invoices.
Pay
The title is "Pay" and your shop name, like "Pay Aisha's Kitchen". When you offer more than one way to pay, customers tap one: Bank transfer, PayPal, or cash. The cash tile says Cash on delivery, Cash when you collect or Cash at the counter. See Add your bank account, PayPal and cash on delivery.
Bank transfer has three steps:
- Copy the account: your account number, name and bank, with Copy. If you have more than one account, customers pick the bank first.
- Send exactly: the amount, with Copy. Customers pay in their bank app, then come back.
- Attach the slip: customers tap Attach slip screenshot. Then they pick the photo of their transfer. It says "Uploading slip", then Slip ready. To pick another photo, they tap Replace.
If the photo does not go up, the box says "Slip did not upload". Customers tap Try again, or Remove to take it off.
A payment slip is the photo of a bank transfer. You check it on your order board. See Check a payment slip and confirm payment.
PayPal has the same three steps: Find the shop on PayPal, Send exactly (in US dollars) and Attach the screenshot.
When customers come back from their bank app, the page can say "Welcome back. Everything is as you left it."
For cash, customers see "Have MVR 150 ready. The rider may not carry change." For pickup it says "Pay when you collect." For dine-in it says "Pay at the counter when you arrive." Cash is not offered for air cargo, digital items or pre-orders with a deposit. For pre-order items with a deposit, customers first pick Deposit now or Everything now. See Sell an item as a pre-order.
If you count stock, a green tick says the items are still in stock. If an item sold out while they were ordering, customers see a box with Update cart.
If you wrote a delivery and refund policy, a box called Before you order shows it. If customers must agree, they tick "I have read this and I agree". See Add a delivery and refund policy.
At the end of Pay, a small line says what happens next. When customers pay before the order, it says "Aisha's Kitchen checks the slip, then confirms. You can follow it on your order page." For cash, it says "The shop gets your order straight away."
The total
The bar at the bottom shows the Total and a line like "Includes MVR 30 delivery". Customers tap the total, or the items button at the top, to see a sheet called Your order. (A sheet is a panel that covers part of the screen.) It lists each item, then Items, your extra charge, Delivery, any code, GST and the Total.
Place order
When everything is filled in, the button says Place order, or Place pre-order for a later time. Before that, it names what is missing, like Add your name, Agree first or Attach slip.
After Place order, the customer goes to their order page. See What customers see after they order. The order comes to your order board. See Your first order, step by step.
If you change a price while a customer is at checkout, a sheet called "The total changed" opens. It says "Nothing was ordered yet." and shows the new total. Customers tap Place order · MVR 160 to order at the new total. Or they tap Back to basket.
If something else changed while they were ordering, a red message says what to do. For example:
- "This shop is closed right now. You can order when it opens."
- "This shop takes bank transfer only. Pick bank transfer to order." You turned off Cash on delivery.
- "Delivery needs MVR 100. Pick up instead or add more."
Who can use it
Customers do not need an account. Everyone in your team can open your shop and try the basket and checkout. Only the owner can change the settings in this article.
Ordering online needs a Storefront. On a free listing, customers order by message instead. See Free listing and Storefront.
If this happens
The button says Can't take this order yet
The order needs online payment, and you have no bank account or PayPal. Customers see a note that tells them to ask you to add one. Add a bank account in Payment details. See Add your bank account, PayPal and cash on delivery.
Customers cannot pick cash
Cash on delivery may be off in Payment details. Cash is also never offered for air cargo, digital items or pre-orders with a deposit.
Air cargo is not at checkout
Add a bank account or PayPal in Payment details. Air cargo orders are paid before they fly. See Send orders by air cargo.
Customers can only pick Pickup
Their basket is under your delivery minimum. They see "Delivery starts at MVR 100" with how much more to add. See Set where you deliver and your fees.
The basket button says Ask the shop
Accepting orders is off. See Pause and restart orders.
Tip
Place a test order from your own phone before you share your link. Pay by the way most customers will use. You will know each step when a customer asks for help.
