Show a price in US dollars next to your prices in MVR.
On this page
What it is
USD prices show tourists and resort buyers a US dollar price next to each MVR price. You set your own rate: how many MVR you count for one US dollar. You can also type your own dollar price for an item. And you can add a bank account in US dollars.
Find it
- Tap Settings in the bar at the bottom.
- Scroll down to Delivery & payments.
- Tap USD prices. Under it, it says Off when you start.
A sheet called USD prices opens. (A sheet is a panel that covers part of the screen.)
On a computer, Settings is in the bar on the left.
If you do not see Delivery & payments, your shop is a free listing. USD prices need a Storefront. See Free listing and Storefront.
Every setting
To turn on USD prices:
- Tap the Show USD prices switch. It turns green.
- Look at the number in the Your rate box. Change it if you need to.
- Tap Save at the bottom.
In Settings, under USD prices, you now see your rate, like "1 USD = MVR 15.42".
Show USD prices
The app says: "When on, items can carry a USD price and you can add USD bank accounts." The switch is off (grey) when you start.
Customers seea dollar price next to each MVR price, like "MVR 120 · $7.78" or "MVR 120 ≈ $7.78". It depends on your shop's look. Inside an item, the dollar price is under the MVR price.
Customers see the total in dollars too:
- On your shop page, the basket bar at the bottom shows a total like "≈ $15.56".
- In the basket, each item shows a line like "about $7.78". The total shows "About $16.21".
- At checkout, they see "About $16.21" when they tap the total. Checkout is the last page, where customers place the order.
On your shop page and inside an item, items with sizes do not show a dollar price. During a sale, the dollar price follows the sale price.
When the switch is on, you can also add a bank account in US dollars. Customers who pay into it see the amount in USD. PayPal customers see the dollar amount from your rate. They also see "Send the exact USD amount so the shop can match your payment." See Add your bank account, PayPal and cash on delivery and How customers order from you.
To turn it off, tap the switch so it turns grey. Then tap Save. Settings says Off again. Dollar prices leave your shop, and customers no longer see your USD bank accounts.
Your rate
This box shows when the switch is on. It reads "1 USD =", then a number, then "MVR". Type how many MVR you count for one US dollar. The box starts with 15.42.
Under the box, the app says: "MMA reference is around 15.42 MVR. Set your own rate to match how you accept USD." MMA is the Maldives Monetary Authority. It looks after the country's money.
Your shop shows each dollar price from this rate. For example, at 15.42, an item at MVR 120 shows $7.78. When you change the rate, every dollar price changes. Items where you typed your own Dollar price keep it.
Dollar price (on an item)
You can type your own dollar price for one item. For example, $8 instead of $7.78.
- Tap Items in the bar at the bottom.
- Tap the item's name or photo. Do not tap the Shown button on the right. (It may say Sold out or Hidden.) The item sheet opens.
- Tap the big Price tile on the left. A panel called Price opens.
- Scroll down to Dollar price.
- Type the price in US dollars, like 8.
- Tap Done at the top right.
A message says "Price saved".
The box has "USD" in front. When it is empty, it shows the price from your rate in grey. Under it, the app says: "Worked out from your USD rate. Type your own to set it." After you type a price, it says: "Customers paying in USD send this. Cash and MVR transfers still charge MVR."
To go back to the price from your rate, clear the box. Then tap Done.
Dollar price only shows when USD prices are on. During a sale, customers see the sale price in dollars, from your rate. Your own dollar price comes back when the sale ends. See Put an item on sale.
Who can use it
Only the owner can turn USD prices on or off and set the rate. Senior managers, managers and staff do not see Settings.
The owner, senior managers and managers can type a Dollar price on an item. Staff cannot open Items.
USD prices need a Storefront.
Common mistakes
A red message shows when I save
Each message says what to fix:
- "Enter a valid rate." The Your rate box is empty or not a number. Type a number bigger than 0, like 15.42. Then tap Save.
- "The dollar price looks wrong." The item's Dollar price box has something that is not a price. Type a number, like 8 or 7.50. Or clear the box to use your rate.
My rate went back to 15.42
When you turn USD prices off and tap Save, your rate is not kept. When you turn them on again, the box shows 15.42. Type your own rate. Then tap Save.
I cannot pick USD for my bank account
The app says "To add a USD account, first turn on USD prices in Settings." Turn on Show USD prices. Tap Save. Then add the account again.
My USD bank account is gone from checkout
USD prices are off. Customers only see USD bank accounts while USD prices are on. Turn the switch back on. Then tap Save.
An item shows no dollar price
Check if the item has sizes. On your shop page and inside an item, items with sizes do not show a dollar price. If no item shows one, check that USD prices in Settings does not say Off.
Tip
Use the rate you really get when you change dollars at the bank. Check it now and then. Then the dollars customers send match the MVR you need.
