What it is
A test order is an order you place yourself, on your own shop page. It shows you what customers see when they order. You can also practise on your order board before a real customer orders. A test order is a real order, so cancel it when you finish.
Find it
First, check two things on your order board (the Orders tab):
- If it says "Buyers cannot receive orders yet", tap Fix now. Set where you deliver or where customers collect. See Choose how customers get their order.
- The button at the top right must say Open. If it says Paused, tap it. Your shop takes orders again. See Pause and restart orders.
Grow is your shop assistant in Eveyla. When Grow shows you around the app, the last card says "One last thing". Tap Place a test order first. See Tips and the tour.
Before your first order, the order board shows a card: "Your first order will land here". It has a button for this:
- Tap Orders in the bar at the bottom.
- Tap Place a test order. It is under the green Share your link button.
The card goes away after your first order. If the card says "First, add what you sell", tap Add items. See Add your first item and The order board.
At any time, you can also do this:
- Tap your shop name at the top left.
- Tap View storefront.
On a wide computer screen, tap your shop card at the bottom of the bar on the left. Then tap View storefront.
Each way opens your shop page in a new tab. It is the same page customers see.
Every setting
To place the test order:
- On your shop page, tap the add button on an item. It shows a + or the word Add.
- If a sheet opens, pick the choices it asks for. (A sheet is a panel that covers part of the screen.)
- Tap the button at the bottom of the sheet, like Add · MVR 50.
- Tap the bar at the bottom of the screen. It says View cart or Checkout.
- Your basket opens. Tap Check out at the bottom. It may say Check out for pickup or Order for later.
- The checkout page opens. It is the last page, where customers place the order. The first part is "How do you want it?". If you see Delivery and Pickup, tap one.
- Fill in the boxes under it, like your island and house.
- Tap Next: your details at the bottom.
- Under "Who is it for?", type your own name and phone number.
- Tap Next: pay.
- The last part is "Pay" and your shop name. If you see a cash choice, like Cash on delivery, tap it.
- Tap Place order at the bottom. It says Place pre-order for an order for later.
Your order page opens. It says "Thanks" and your first name, like "Thanks, Aisha". Keep this tab open. See How customers order from you for every part of checkout.
On a computer, your shop page may show a box called "Your order" on the right. Tap View cart in it.
When the button names something to fix
The button at the bottom often says what to fix. Fix it, then tap the button again. For example:
- Add your name: the name box is empty.
- Pick your island: you need to pick an island.
- Add MVR 50 more: your shop has a smallest order amount. Add more items.
- Fix 1 item: an item in your basket needs a change. Tap the button to go to it.
When your shop takes bank transfer only
There is no cash choice. The button says Attach slip. A payment slip is the photo of a bank transfer.
- Tap the box that says "Attach slip screenshot".
- Pick any photo. It is a test, so you do not need to send money.
- Tap Place order.
If your shop takes PayPal only, the button says Attach screenshot. The box says "Attach payment screenshot".
Your order page may say "Just checking" or "Looks good". That is about your slip. You see it instead of "Thanks" or "Packing now".
Later, on your order board, do not tap Confirm on this order. No money came in.
See it on your order board
- Go back to Eveyla.
- Tap Orders in the bar at the bottom.
Your order is under Needs you (shown in capital letters). It has a green Accept button. A bank transfer order shows Confirm instead.
Grow may show a card called "Your first order". It points at your test order. Grow explains each step once. See Your first order, step by step.
Try the steps
This part is optional.
- Tap your test order. The order page opens.
- Under Status, tap Accept order.
- Look at your order page in the other tab. It changes to "Packing now". Food shops see "In the kitchen".
- Go back to Eveyla.
- Tap the green button again. It says something like Mark as on the way.
Stop before the last step, like Mark as delivered. A finished order has no Cancel button. See Accept an order and move it along.
Cancel the test order
- Tap Orders in the bar at the bottom.
- Tap your test order. Tap the card itself, not its button. The order page opens.
- Under Status, tap Cancel. It is the red word next to the green button. A box opens. It says "This cancels the order for the customer. It can't be undone."
- Tap Cancel order.
To keep the order, tap Keep order instead.
The order page now says "This order was cancelled." On your order board, the order moves to Done, under Cancelled. See Cancel or refund an order.
Customers see"Sorry" and their first name on their order page. They also see a line like "Call the shop to ask why." You are the customer here, so you see it in your other tab.
On a computer, the order opens on the right side of the screen.
Who can use it
This is a job for the owner. Only the owner sees Place a test order and Place a test order first. Only the owner can tap Paused to take orders again. Team members can still open your shop page with View storefront. Anyone in the team can cancel an order.
Taking orders online needs a Storefront. A free listing has no basket or checkout.
Common mistakes
I cannot add items to my basket
Read the note above your items on your shop page:
- "Not accepting orders right now": your shop is paused. Go back to Eveyla. On the order board, tap Paused at the top right.
- "Closed right now, you can browse, but ordering is paused": your shop is outside its opening hours. If your shop closes after midnight, set the closing time before midnight. See Set your opening hours.
If your basket already has items, its button says Ask the shop while your shop is paused.
I marked the test order delivered
Once an order is delivered, the Cancel button is gone.
- Open the order.
- Under Delivered, tap the small link, like Undo, back to on the way.
- Tap Cancel.
- Tap Cancel order.
My test order is not on the order board
First, tap Live at the top of the order board. If the order is still missing, a filter may be on. To clear it:
- Tap Done at the top.
- Tap the funnel button on the right. It has no words, only a funnel picture (a cone, wide at the top).
- Tap All. The menu closes.
- Tap the funnel button again.
- Tap All time.
- Tap Live.
See Find an old order.
Grow's cards did not show for my first real order
Each card shows once. If you tapped Got it on a card during your test, that card does not show again. The steps are the same for every order. See Your first order, step by step.
Tip
Turn on order alerts before you place your test order. Then you can check that the ping really comes. See Get a ping for every new order.
