What it is

Pausing stops all new orders from your shop page at once. Use it when you are sold out, too busy or away. Your shop stays on show, so customers can still look at your items. Orders already on your order board stay there.

Pausing works whatever your opening hours say. To close at the same times every day, set your hours instead. See Set your opening hours.

Find it

The quickest way is on the order board:

  1. Tap Orders in the bar at the bottom.
  2. Look at the top right. The button with a green dot says Open.

The buttons at the top of the order board are explained in Find your way around the app.

You can also use the switch in Settings:

  1. Tap Settings in the bar at the bottom.
  2. Under Storefront, tap Logo, description & hours. A sheet called Storefront opens.
  3. Scroll down to Accepting orders.

The rest of this sheet is in Add your logo, name and description.

On a computer, Orders and Settings are in the bar on the left.

No Open button? Your shop is a free listing, or your Storefront is not live yet. A free listing does not take orders. See Free listing and Storefront.

Every setting

Open and Paused

This button is at the top right of your order board. It shows if your shop takes new orders.

To pause:

  1. Tap Open. A sheet called Pause new orders? opens. (A sheet is a panel that covers part of the screen.)
  2. Tap Pause.

The sheet says: "Your storefront stays visible. Buyers can browse but cannot order until you reopen. Orders already on the board are not affected."

After you tap Pause, a message says "New orders paused". The button now says Paused, with a grey dot. A line on your order board says "New orders are paused. Buyers can browse but not order."

To keep taking orders, tap Keep open instead of Pause. The X and the dark part of the screen do the same.

To restart, tap Paused at the top right. Your shop takes orders again right away. The app does not ask first. A message says "Taking orders again". You can also tap Reopen at the end of the line on your order board.

Customers see

a banner (a coloured box) on your shop page that says "Not accepting orders right now. Browse the menu and come back later."

Customers can look at your items, but they cannot add them to the basket. Pre-orders (orders for later) stop too. In the Eveyla shop list, your shop shows "Closed now", and your logo looks faded.

Customers who already have items in their basket see that you are not taking orders. Some customers may be at checkout when you pause. Checkout is the last page, where customers place the order. When they try to place the order, they see "This shop just stopped taking orders." See What customers see on your shop page and How customers order from you.

Accepting orders

This switch is in Settings, in the Logo, description & hours sheet. Under the words Accepting orders, the app says "Pause ordering regardless of hours." This means it stops orders even during your opening hours. The switch is on the right.

It does the same as the Open button. When you change one, the other changes too.

The switch is on (green) when you start.

  1. Tap the switch. It turns grey.
  2. Tap Save at the bottom.

Under Logo, description & hours, Settings now says Orders paused. To restart, tap the switch so it turns green. Then tap Save. Settings then says Accepting orders again.

Who can use it

Only the owner can pause and restart orders. Senior managers, managers and staff see Open or Paused, but they cannot tap it. On a computer, when they point at it, it says "Only the owner can pause orders". They also see the line on the order board, without Reopen.

Pausing needs a Storefront.

Common mistakes

The button says Open, but customers see that I am closed

The Open button only shows if you paused. It does not show your opening hours. Outside your hours, customers see that you are closed. See Set your opening hours.

I turned off Accepting orders, but customers can still order

You did not tap Save. The X at the top right closes the sheet without saving. Turn off the switch again and tap Save. Or use the Open button on your order board. It works right away.

A message says "Couldn't change that. Try again."

The change did not go through. Check that your phone is online. Then tap the button again.

My app says "Your storefront is paused"

That is a different thing. It is about your Eveyla bill, not your orders. See My storefront is paused.

Tip

Pause your orders instead of hiding your shop. When you pause, customers can still see your items and come back later. When you hide your shop, they cannot open it at all. See Hide or show your shop.
