What it is

Payment details is where you add the bank accounts customers send money to. You can also add PayPal, and choose if customers can pay cash when the order arrives. Customers only see the ways you set up. When they pay by transfer or PayPal, they attach a payment slip. They do this at checkout (the last page, where customers place the order). A payment slip is the photo of a bank transfer. For PayPal, it is a screenshot of the payment.

Find it

  1. Tap Settings in the bar at the bottom.
  2. Scroll down to Delivery & payments.
  3. Tap Payment details. A sheet called Payment details opens. (A sheet is a panel that covers part of the screen.)
Settings on a phone. In the Delivery & payments group, the Payment details row is marked.

On a computer, Settings is in the bar on the left.

Under Payment details, a grey line sums up what you set. For example: "BML ····1234 · PayPal". With nothing added, it says "Add to accept bank transfers". When cash is off, it ends with "· Transfer only".

The first time you open Settings, a few tips show. The second one points at this row. It says "How customers pay you" and "Add your bank account so customers can pay by transfer. Without it, they pay cash on delivery."

If you do not see Delivery & payments, your shop is a free listing. Payment details need a Storefront. See Free listing and Storefront.

Every setting

At the top, a note says: "Add one or more bank accounts so customers can pay by bank transfer at checkout."

To add a bank account:

  1. Tap Add bank account in the Bank accounts card. A form called New account opens under it.
  2. Tap your bank: BML, MIB or Other.
  3. If you tapped Other, type the bank's name in the Bank name box.
  4. Type the name on the account in the Account name box.
  5. Type the number in the Account number box.
  6. Under Currency, leave MVR picked, unless it is a US dollar account.
  7. Tap Add account. While it saves, the button says Saving….

The account now shows in the list. It is saved right away.

PayPal and cash are not saved right away. After you change PayPal ID (optional) or Cash on delivery, tap Save at the bottom of the sheet. Then the sheet closes.

Bank accounts

Under the title, it says "No bank accounts yet." or how many you have, like "2 accounts". Each account shows the bank, a small MVR or USD tag, the account name and the number.

When you have as many accounts as the app allows, Add bank account goes away.

Customers see

your account number at checkout, with a Copy button. If you have more than one way to pay, customers pick Bank transfer to see it. With more than one account, the first account in your list shows. Customers can tap another bank at the top. See How customers order from you.

BML, MIB or Other

These are the bank buttons in the form. BML is picked when you start. For any other bank, tap Other. A box called Bank name opens. It shows "e.g. SBI" in grey.

Customers see

the bank's name after your account name, like "Aisha Ibrahim, BML".

Account name

The name on your bank account, the same as your bank shows it.

Account number

Type the number from your bank. Use numbers. Spaces and dashes are fine. In the list, the app shows the number in groups of 4.

Currency

MVR is picked when you start. Tap USD for a US dollar account.

Until USD prices are on, tapping USD does nothing. Under it, the app says: "To add a USD account, first turn on USD prices in Settings." See Show prices in US dollars.

Customers only see a USD account while USD prices are on.

Edit and Remove

To change an account:

  1. Tap Edit next to the account. The form opens. It is called Edit account.
  2. Change what you need.
  3. Tap Save account.

To remove an account:

  1. Tap Remove next to the account. The app asks: "Remove the account ending 1234?"
  2. Tap Remove again. To keep the account, tap Keep.

To close the form without changes, tap Cancel.

PayPal ID (optional)

This box is in the PayPal card. Type your PayPal email or your paypal.me link. Under the box, the app says: "Customers send money to this PayPal and attach a screenshot. PayPal takes a fee from what you receive."

To stop taking PayPal, clear the box. Then tap Save.

Customers see

a PayPal choice at checkout. It shows your PayPal ID with a Copy button, and the amount to send in US dollars. If you typed a paypal.me link, they also get an Open PayPal link. See How customers order from you.

To set your own dollar rate, see Show prices in US dollars.

Cash on delivery

This switch is at the bottom. Under it, the app says: "Turn this off to take bank transfer only."

When the switch is green, customers can pay cash. When it is grey, they must pay by bank transfer or PayPal when they order. You can turn it off only when you have a bank account or a PayPal ID.

Customers see

Cash on delivery at checkout. For pickup it says Cash when you collect. For dine-in it says Cash at the counter. When they pick cash on delivery, they see "Have MVR 250 ready. The rider may not carry change."

Customers see

in their basket, a line like "Pay by bank transfer or PayPal, or cash when it arrives." Your shop page also lists your ways to pay, like "Bank transfer (BML, MIB) · PayPal · Cash on delivery". The words change a little with your shop's look.

On the Feast look, a line under your ways to pay says "Pay at the door or send a transfer, chosen at checkout." When cash is off, it says "Pay when you place the order, then upload the transfer slip."

Some orders can never be paid in cash, even when this switch is on:

Your bank account and PayPal are also used when you:

Who can use it

Only the owner can add or change payment details. Team members do not see Settings.

Payment details need a Storefront. They are not part of the free listing.

Common mistakes

A red message shows when I tap Add account

The message shows in the form. Each one says what to fix:

  • "Enter the bank name." You tapped Other. Type the bank's name in Bank name.
  • "Enter the account name." Type the name on the account.
  • "Account number looks invalid." Use only numbers, spaces and dashes. Copy the number from your bank app.
  • "Turn on USD prices in Settings first." The account is set to USD. Turn on USD prices, or tap MVR.

The Cash on delivery switch will not turn off

Scroll up to the top of the sheet. A red message says: "Add a bank account or PayPal first, so customers have a way to pay." Customers need at least one way to pay. Add a bank account, or type your PayPal ID. Then turn off the switch. Tap Save.

A red message shows when I tap Save

It says "Add a bank account or PayPal, or turn cash on delivery back on." Cash is off, and customers have no other way to pay. Add a bank account, type your PayPal ID, or turn Cash on delivery back on. Then tap Save.

A red message says "This is your only way to get paid"

You tried to remove your last bank account while cash is off and you have no PayPal. The message is at the top of the sheet.

  1. Turn on Cash on delivery, or type your PayPal ID.
  2. Tap Save. The sheet closes.
  3. Tap Payment details again.
  4. Tap Remove next to the account. The app asks: "Remove the account ending 1234?"
  5. Tap Remove again.

My PayPal ID or cash change is gone

You closed the sheet without tapping Save. The X at the top right closes the sheet without saving. Tapping the dark part of the screen does the same. Bank accounts are saved when you tap Add account, but PayPal and cash are not. Make the change again, then tap Save.

Tip

Before you share your shop, go through checkout on it as a customer would. The last part is called "Pay" with your shop name, like "Pay Aisha's Bakery". Check that your account number and name look right there. You do not need to place the order. See Place a test order.
