What it is

Air cargo means you send the order by plane, on a flight inside the Maldives. At checkout (the last page, where customers place the order), they pick the airport nearest them. They collect the package at the airport cargo counter, with an ID card. You book the flight after the order comes in. Customers always pay before it flies, by bank transfer or PayPal.

Find it

  1. Tap Settings in the bar at the bottom.
  2. Scroll down to Delivery & payments.
  3. Tap Air cargo. A sheet called Air cargo opens. (A sheet is a panel that covers part of the screen.)

On a computer, Settings is in the bar on the left.

Under Air cargo, a grey line says "Off", or "On · MVR 150" with your charge.

If you do not see Delivery & payments, your shop is a free listing. Air cargo needs a Storefront. See Free listing and Storefront.

Air cargo also needs a bank account or PayPal, because customers pay first. Add one before you start. See Add your bank account, PayPal and cash on delivery.

Every setting

To turn on air cargo:

  1. Tap the switch on the right of Air cargo. It turns green, and two boxes open under it.
  2. Type your price in the Air cargo charge (MVR) box.
  3. If you like, type a note in the Note to buyers (optional) box.
  4. Tap Save at the bottom. While it saves, the button says Saving…. Then the sheet closes.

Air cargo

This is the switch at the top. Under the title, the app says: "Send orders by domestic flight. Buyers pick their airport at checkout and collect at the cargo counter. You book the flight after the order lands."

When the switch is green, air cargo is on. When it is grey, it is off, and the two boxes are hidden.

When the switch is on, you may see a note with a warning sign. It means you have no bank account or PayPal yet. It says: "Air cargo orders are prepaid. Add a bank account or PayPal ID in Payment details first." Prepaid means customers pay first. Until you add one, customers do not see air cargo at checkout.

Customers see

an Air cargo choice at checkout, next to your other ways. When they tap it, they see your shop name and "sends it by plane. You collect it at the airport cargo counter."

Then customers:

  • pick an airport under Airport it flies to. The list starts with "Pick the airport nearest you". Each airport shows its short code and atoll, like "Hanimaadhoo (HAQ), Haa Dhaalu".
  • see a small card from your island to their airport.
  • see Collected by with their name, and "Bring an ID card with this exact name." To use another name, they tap Someone else and type it in Who collects it.
  • see "The airline texts collection details to your phone when it lands. Nothing to pay at the airport."

If they forget the airport, they see "Pick the airport nearest you. Your package flies there."

Do you have a minimum order, and let smaller orders be picked up? Then the Air cargo choice is grey until the basket reaches the minimum. It says "From MVR 200". See Set where you deliver and your fees.

Customers cannot pay cash for air cargo. If you take cash on delivery, they see "Air cargo is paid before it flies, so cash is not an option."

When an air cargo order comes in, your order board shows it with a line like "Air cargo to Hanimaadhoo · prepaid". On the order page, a box called Send by air cargo (shown in capital letters) shows the airport. It also shows the "Name on package" and says "The customer collects at the cargo counter with ID." To send it, see Send an order out for delivery.

Customers see

on their order page, the last two steps are "Flying" and "Collected". See What customers see after they order.

Air cargo charge (MVR)

This is what customers pay for air cargo. When the box is empty, it shows a grey 0. Under it, the app says: "Added to the order total. Cover the airline cargo fee and your handling in this one charge."

Type a number only, like 150. If you leave it at 0 or empty, air cargo is free for customers.

Customers see

your charge on the Air cargo choice, like "MVR 150", or "Free". Under the total at the bottom, they see "Includes MVR 150 air cargo". When they tap the total, the line says "Air cargo to Hanimaadhoo".

Note to buyers (optional)

A short note about air cargo. The box shows an example in grey. Say when the package flies out, and remind customers to bring their ID.

Customers see

your note at checkout, under a small heading like "FROM AISHA'S BAKERY".

Customers see

on some shop looks, air cargo is in your delivery details, like "To any domestic airport, MVR 150". Your note is under it.

Who can use it

Only the owner can turn on air cargo and set the charge. Team members do not see Settings. Everyone in the team can see air cargo orders on the order board.

Air cargo needs a Storefront. It is not part of the free listing.

Common mistakes

Customers do not see Air cargo at checkout

Your shop has no bank account or PayPal. Air cargo orders are paid before they fly. Open Payment details in Settings. Add a bank account, or type your PayPal ID and tap Save. See Add your bank account, PayPal and cash on delivery.

A red message says "Air cargo charge must be 0 or more."

Type a number only, like 150. Do not type "MVR", commas or a minus sign. Then tap Save.

Customers pay for air cargo on a big order

Free delivery over (MVR), optional in the Delivery sheet is for delivery only. At checkout, the air cargo charge is still added. To make air cargo free, set Air cargo charge (MVR) to 0.

What I typed is gone

The X at the top right closes the sheet, and what you typed is not saved. Tapping the dark part of the screen does the same. Make your changes again, then tap Save.

Tip

In Note to buyers (optional), say how many days it takes to fly out. Customers then know when to expect the airline's text, and call you less.
