What it is
The Counter is the screen for selling to someone standing in front of you. Its tab is called POS. Every item you sell is a button, called a tile. You tap tiles to add items to the sale. Then you take the money. The sale goes into your orders and reports, with your online orders.
Find it
- Tap POS in the bar at the bottom. The Counter opens.
On a computer, POS is in the bar on the left.
If you do not see POS, the POS tab is switched off. The owner can switch it on. See Turn on the Counter.
The first time, a tip called "Selling at the counter" or "This is your Counter" may show. Tap Got it to close it. See Your first minutes in the app.
Every setting
To make a sale:
- Tap the tile of an item the customer wants. A green number 1 shows on the corner of the tile.
- Tap the tile again for each extra one. The number goes up.
- Tap Charge in the green bar at the bottom. A sheet called Charge opens. (A sheet is a panel that covers part of the screen.)
- Tap how the customer pays: Cash, Card, Transfer or Credit. See Take cash, card, transfer or credit at the Counter.
- Tap the big green button at the bottom. For cash, it says something like Confirm cash · MVR 85.
- A sheet called Sale complete opens. Show the customer the receipt.
- Tap New sale at the bottom. The Counter is empty, ready for the next customer.
On a computer, the sale shows on the right side of the screen. Tap Charge · MVR 85 at the bottom of it.
Some items open a sheet when you tap them, so you can pick a size or extras. To sell something that has no tile, tap + Custom next to the search box. For both, see Sell items with sizes, extras or questions at the Counter.
The green strip at the top
The top of the Counter is green. It shows:
- the first letters of your shop name, in a white square
- Counter, with today's date and your shop name under it, like "Sat 17 Oct · Your shop"
- on the right, Today and the money you took today, like "Today · MVR 1250". The owner and senior managers can tap it to open Insights, your sales reports.
Does your shop keep stock in more than one place? Then you see the place instead of the date, like "Selling from Back room". Tap it to pick the place this phone sells from. See Keep stock in more than one place.
If the internet drops, the right side may show "2 syncing". This means 2 sales are waiting to send. It may also say "1 sale didn't sync". See When the internet drops at the Counter.
Search items
The search box is at the top. It stays there when you scroll.
- Tap the box. It says "Search items".
- Type a few letters of the item name, like "col" for Cola.
- Tap the tile you want.
While you search, Top sellers is hidden. If nothing matches, the app says "Nothing matches. Try fewer letters, or add it with + Custom."
When your items have barcodes or item codes (SKUs), the box says "Search or scan". You can type a code too. A round scan button also shows next to the box. See Packs and barcodes: codes and scanning.
If you scan a code that no item has, the app says "No item has … yet", with the code in the middle. With the Packs and barcodes add-on, that message has an Add item button. The owner, senior managers and managers see it. Tap it to make the item. Otherwise, the message says "Ask the owner to add it."
On a computer, type a few letters of the name and press Enter to add the first item shown.
Item tiles
Your tiles are in groups. Each group has a title and how many items are in it, like "Drinks 12":
- Top sellers: the items you sell most. This group shows once your shop has some best sellers.
- One group for each of your categories, in your category order. See Sort items into categories.
- More: items with no category.
With two or more groups, a thin strip of letters shows on the right edge. Tap a letter to jump to that group. The star is Top sellers. The + is More.
Each tile shows:
- the item name, on two lines at most
- the price. Items on sale show the old price crossed out next to it. Items with sizes or extras may say "From MVR 15".
- a small photo in the corner, if the item has one
- a small coloured corner at the top right, when tapping opens a sheet for sizes or extras
- sometimes a small label about your stock count. None left (in capital letters) means 0 or less. "3 left" means you are running low. See Keep count of your stock.
Once an item is in the sale, its tile gets a green border and a green number. The number says how many are in the sale.
For a pack item, one tap adds the first pack. The app says something like "+1 Single (1 bottle)". See Packs and barcodes: sell by the piece, pack or case.
On a computer, the groups show as buttons above the tiles. On a wide computer screen, they show as a list on the left.
Sold out and hidden
Items you marked Sold out or Hidden for your shop page can still be sold at the Counter. They are in two groups at the bottom of the Counter:
- "3 sold out", with "Still sellable at the counter" under it. This group starts closed. Its tiles look faded.
- "2 hidden", with "Not on your shop. Sell them here." under it. This group starts open.
Tap a group to open or close it. Each tile has a Sold out or Hidden label.
Customers seeno change. Selling these items here does not put them back on your shop page.
See Mark an item sold out or hide it.
Set quantity
Use this to type how many, instead of tapping many times. You can also take an item off the sale here.
- Tap the green number on the tile. A sheet opens with the item name at the top.
- Tap the delete key until the number shows 0. The delete key is at the bottom right of the number keys.
- Tap the number keys for how many, like 6. Under the number, it says "6 × MVR 15 = MVR 90".
- Tap Set quantity · 6 at the bottom.
To take the item off the sale, tap the red Remove line button. Setting the number to 0 does the same.
For items sold by the kg, the number says "kg". You can tap 0.25 kg, 0.5 kg or 1 kg.
For an item with sizes or extras, the green number opens the item's sheet instead. See Sell items with sizes, extras or questions at the Counter.
On a computer, find the item's line in the sale on the right. Tap the number between the minus and plus buttons.
The green Charge bar
When you tap an item, a green bar slides up above the bar at the bottom. It has two parts:
- Left: how many different items are in the sale, and edit (in capital letters). Tap it to open the Charge sheet with the list of items. Tap the minus or plus button to change a number.
- Right: Charge and the total, like "MVR 85". Tap it to take the money.
The total already has your service charge, GST and fees, if your shop adds them. A discount comes off on the Charge sheet. See Take cash, card, transfer or credit at the Counter.
To empty the sale:
- Tap the left part of the bar.
- Tap Clear sale, under the list of items. The app says "Sale cleared."
If it was a mistake, tap Undo in that message.
The sale stays on this phone if you leave the Counter or close the app. It is still there when you come back. Another phone does not see it.
On a computer, the sale is always on the right side. When it is empty, it says "No items yet". When it has items, it says Sale at the top. Tap Clear next to it to empty the sale. Tap Charge · MVR 85 at the bottom to take the money.
Stock warnings
If you count your stock, the Counter tells you when a sale takes more than you have.
If your shop keeps stock in one place, you only get a warning. On the Charge sheet, a dark box says something like "Cola is past your count" and "Count goes 2 to -1. The counter will still take it." The sale still goes through. Tap the box to see each item. Fix your count later. See Add new stock and fix a count.
With stock in more than one place, the Counter cannot sell more than the place has:
- When you tap a tile, the app may say "Only 2 at Back room" or "None at Back room". The item is not added.
- If the numbers for the place have not loaded, the app says "Can't check stock at Back room right now. Try again in a moment."
- On the Charge sheet, a red box says what is too much, like "Back room has 2 of Cola. Lower it to 2, or change the place at the top of the Counter." The button at the bottom stays grey until you fix it.
Sale complete
This sheet opens after you tap the big green button on the Charge sheet. From top to bottom:
- For cash with change to give, Change due (in capital letters) and the change, in big numbers. For credit, an orange book. Otherwise, a green tick.
- "Sale #12 recorded.", or "Sale #12 · in the book." for credit.
- The total and how it was paid: Paid in cash, Paid by card or Paid by transfer.
- The receipt, with Save image and Share under it. See Counter receipts and fixing a sale.
- If you added a customer, a card with their name and See customer. The owner, senior managers and managers can tap it to open the customer's page.
- View credit book. Everyone in your team sees this button. The credit book itself is for the owner, senior managers and managers. See Keep a credit book.
- New sale. Tap it for the next customer.
Customers seethe receipt on your screen, or the picture you send them.
If you close this sheet with the X at the top right, the Counter is empty. A row under the search box, like "Sale #12 · MVR 85 Receipt ›", opens the receipt again.
Who can use it
Everyone in your team can use the Counter: the owner, senior managers, managers and staff. They all see the POS tab when it is switched on.
The Counter needs a Storefront. It is not part of the free listing.
Common mistakes
I don't see POS in the bar
The POS tab is switched off. Only the owner can switch it on. See Turn on the Counter.
I typed 5, but it says 15
The Set quantity sheet starts with the number already in the sale. What you type goes after it. Tap the delete key until the number shows 0. Then type the number you want.
An item is not on the Counter
Scroll to the bottom and open the "sold out" or "hidden" group. Or type its name in the search box.
If the Counter says "No products found" and there are no groups at the bottom, you have no items yet. See Add your first item.
A box that customers fill (a Combo, Hamper, Set or Bundle) is never on the Counter.
It says Only 2 at Back room
Your shop keeps stock in more than one place, and this place has only 2. Sell 2 or fewer. Or tap "Selling from" at the top to pick another place. See Keep stock in more than one place.
I closed the Charge sheet by mistake
Your sale is still there. Tap Charge in the green bar again.
Tip
Keep item names short. A tile shows only two lines of the name. Short names are faster to find when the shop is busy.
