What it is
Packs let you sell one thing in different amounts, like one bottle or 12. You keep one count, in pieces or in a unit like bottles. When you sell a pack of 12, 12 bottles come off the count. This works on your shop page and at the Counter (the POS tab).
Find it
- Tap Items in the bar at the bottom.
- Tap the item's name or photo.
- Tap the round Packs button under the tiles.
A panel called Packs slides up.
If you do not see Packs, tap All at the end of the round buttons. Then tap Packs in the list.
On a computer, Items is in the bar on the left. The item opens on the right side of the screen.
If Packs has a small lock, your shop does not have the add-on yet. The word Add-on shows under it. In All, it has an Add-on tag instead. Tap Packs to see an example. Then tap See Packs and barcodes to try the add-on or buy it. If you are not the owner, ask the owner. See Turn an add-on on or off.
If Packs looks pale and says "Not with sizes", the item has sizes. See Sell them as packs below.
Every setting
To set up packs, follow these steps. In this example, one bottle costs MVR 5, and a pack of 12 costs MVR 55.
- Tap Set up packs. A pack called Single is made for you. It holds one, at the item's price.
- Under Counted in, tap what you count, like bottles. (Titles like this show in capital letters.)
- If the Count bottles switch is grey, tap it so it turns green.
- Type how many bottles you have in the big box, like 40.
- Tap Add a pack. A panel called New pack opens.
- Type a name in the Name box, like Pack of 12.
- Type 12 in the big box under How many bottles in it.
- Type 55 in the Price for the pack box.
- Tap Done at the top right. You are back in Packs.
- Add each pack the same way.
- Tap Done at the top right.
On an item you already added, a dark message says "Saved" at the bottom. On a new item, tap Add to my shop at the bottom.
On your Items page, the item now shows "2 packs" and the count, like "40 bottles". On the item, the tile on the right, under Shown, shows your count, like 40. Under it, it says "bottles · all packs". Tap it to open Packs.
Counted in
This is the unit for your one count. You can tap pcs (pieces, picked when you start), bottles, cans, packets, kg, g or L. For your own word, tap + Your own, type it and tap outside the box. The app says "Half units are fine, like 0.5 kg."
The word you pick shows in the other settings. For example, Count bottles and How many bottles in it.
Count bottles
This switch says Count and your unit. When it is on, the app says "Every pack takes from this". Type how many you have in the big box, or tap − and +.
When it is off, the app says "Off · packs never sell out on their own".
If you keep stock in more than one place, there is no big box. The panel says, for example, "40 bottles in total. Change it in Stock." See Keep stock in more than one place.
Warn me at
This shows when Count bottles is on. It starts at Off. Tap + to set a number. The app says "In bottles. Shows a Low badge and a nudge". A nudge is a small reminder. See Keep count of your stock.
With more than one place, you also see Different at each place. See Packs and barcodes: stock and costs at each place.
Add a pack
Tap Add a pack under your packs to add one. Each pack in the list shows:
- its name
- how much it holds and how many are left, like "12 bottles · 3 left", or "Sold out"
- Picked first, on the pack one tap adds at the Counter
- Counter only, on a pack customers cannot see
- its price, or "No price"
Tap a pack to change it. Under the list, a box shows your packs the way customers see them, like "MVR 4.58 each · Save MVR 5".
Name
The name customers and your team see, like Single, Pack of 12 or Case of 24. Every pack needs a name. Two packs cannot have the same name.
How many bottles in it
How much of your unit one pack holds. The app says "Selling one takes this many bottles off the count." Use a number above 0, like 1, 12 or 0.5.
At the bottom of the pack, a note says what your count makes. For example, "Shares the item's count: 40 bottles makes 3 of this pack."
Follow the item price
The item price is the price on the item's big Price tile. When this switch is on, the pack costs the item price times how much it holds. The app shows the sum, like "12 × MVR 5 = MVR 60. Moves when the item price changes." Until both numbers are set, it says "Set how many it holds and the item price first."
When it is off, the app says "Off · this pack keeps its own price".
It starts on for the Single pack that Set up packs makes. It starts off for packs you add. The Price panel tells you too, like "1 of your packs follow this price and change with it."
Price for the pack
Type the price in the box. When Follow the item price is on, the box shows the price with a Follows label. You cannot type in it then.
Under the box, the app shows the price for one, and what customers save. For example, "MVR 4.58 per bottle. Customers save MVR 5 against Single." If your shop has GST, a green label shows the GST on that price.
Picked first
This shows when the item has two or more packs. One pack is always picked first. On that pack, the app says "One tap at the Counter adds this pack, and your shop shows it first". On the others, it says "Make this the pack one tap adds".
To change it, open another pack and turn on Picked first there.
Sell online
This switch starts on. The app says "Customers can pick it on your shop".
Turn it off for a pack you only sell in person. The app then says "Only at the Counter and on pay links". The pack shows Counter only in the list. At least one pack must sell online.
Barcode on this pack
Type the barcode or tap Scan. Scanning this barcode at the Counter adds this pack. See Packs and barcodes: codes and scanning.
Remove this pack
- Open the pack.
- Tap Remove this pack at the bottom.
- Tap Remove.
The app says "Past orders keep it on their receipts." To keep the pack, tap Keep it.
Turn off packs
- In Packs, tap Turn off packs at the bottom.
- Tap Remove all.
The app says "The item goes back to one price. Past orders keep them on their receipts."
Sell them as packs
Use this when an item has sizes that are really packs. For example, Single and Pack of 12.
- Tap the Sizes button on the item. It may show your own word, like Weights.
- Tap the note that starts "Are these packs of one thing". Packs opens with your sizes as packs.
- Check the number in the box called One stock count. The app says "Your sizes' counts join into one. We added them up. Check it."
- Tap a pack.
- Type how many bottles it holds, under How many bottles in it.
- Tap Done. Do the same for each pack.
- Tap Done at the top right.
If you keep stock in more than one place, there is no number to check. The box says "Each size's count joins into one at every place: its count times the bottles it holds."
What customers see
Customers seeyour packs as choices when they open the item. Each one shows its price and a line like "MVR 4.58 each · Save MVR 5". The pack that is picked first is already chosen.
Packs that are Counter only are not on your shop. A pack shows "Sold out" when your count is too low for it. When packs have different prices, your shop page shows the lowest, like "From MVR 5".
Packs at the Counter
On the Counter, the item's tile shows the pack that is picked first. You see its price and name, like "MVR 5 Single".
- Tap the tile. One Single goes into the sale. The first time, a message says "+1 Single (1 bottle). Tap the number for other packs".
- To add other packs, tap the green number on the tile. A sheet with the item's name opens. (A sheet is a panel that covers part of the screen.)
- Tap + next to the pack you want.
- Tap Done.
To take one off, tap − next to the pack.
At the top of the sheet, a green box shows what is in the sale, like "In this sale: 1 Single = 1 bottle". Under it, it says how many are left, like "39 bottles left after this sale", or "No bottles left". If the item is not counted, it says "Counted in bottles. This item isn't counted."
Each pack shows a line like "12 bottles · MVR 4.58 each · saves MVR 5", and "3 more can go" or "None left". The pack one tap adds says One tap adds this.
The tile then shows what is in the sale, like "1 Single · 1 Pack of 12". In the sale, a pack line shows how much it takes, like "12 bottles". See Make a sale at the Counter.
Your Counter may sell from one place. Then it only adds a pack if that place has enough. If not, the app says, for example, "Only 8 bottles at Back room".
In New stock, pack items get buttons with your pack names, like "+1 Pack of 12". See Add new stock and fix a count.
Who can use it
The owner, senior managers and managers can set up packs on the Items page. Everyone who can use the Counter, staff too, can sell packs there.
Packs need a Storefront and the Packs and barcodes add-on. Only the owner can buy the add-on. You can see the price in the add-on store.
Common mistakes
It says "Turn off Sizes first"
The item has sizes, and an item cannot have sizes and packs together. Open Sizes and tap the note with Sell them as packs. See Sell them as packs above.
A red message shows when I tap Done
On a new item, it shows when you tap Add to my shop. Each message says what to fix:
- "Set how many bottles "Pack of 12" holds." Open the pack and type a number in How many bottles in it.
- "Give "Pack of 12" a price." Type a price, or turn on Follow the item price.
- "Give every pack a name." or "You have two called "Single". Names must be different." Fix the pack names.
- "Turn on Sell online for at least one pack." Open a pack and turn on Sell online.
Customers cannot see one of my packs
It says Counter only. Open the pack and turn on Sell online. Then tap Done.
The Picked first switch will not turn off
One pack is always picked first. Open the pack you want instead, and turn on Picked first there.
It says "Packs and barcodes is off for your shop."
The add-on stopped. The app says "These packs keep selling as they are. To add or change packs, get the add-on again." Tap See Packs and barcodes in the note. If you are not the owner, ask the owner.
Tip
Add the barcode from each wrapper to its pack, like the barcode on the case box. Then scanning a case at the Counter adds a whole case, not a single. See Packs and barcodes: codes and scanning.
