What it is
Some items need a choice before you can sell them, like a size or extra cheese. On the Counter (the POS tab), tapping one of these items opens a sheet. (A sheet is a panel that covers part of the screen.) You pick what the customer wants, and the item goes into the sale. Tiles for items with sizes, colours or extras have a small coloured corner at the top right.
You set up sizes, colours, extras and questions in the item itself. See Add sizes and colours, Let customers add extras and Ask customers a question when they order.
Find it
- Tap POS in the bar at the bottom. The Counter opens.
- Tap the tile of an item with sizes, colours, extras or questions. A sheet opens with the item name at the top.
If you do not see POS, see Turn on the Counter.
Every setting
The sheet that opens depends on the item:
- Sizes only: see Pick a size below.
- Extras, with or without sizes: see Add to sale below.
- Colours, or two lists like Colour and Storage: see Colours and two lists below.
- Questions: see Ask the customer for these details below. This sheet opens first.
Pick a size
- Tap the item's tile. Under the item name, the sheet says "Pick a size". It uses your own word, like "Pick a flavour".
- Tap the size the customer wants. The sheet closes, and a green 1 shows on the tile.
Each size shows its price and a green plus button. Under its name is your count: "Not counted", "8 left", "3 left · low" in orange, or "None left" in red.
To sell more of a size, or take one off:
- Tap the green number on the tile. The sheet opens again. It says how many are in the sale, like "1 in this sale".
- Tap the plus or minus button next to the size.
- Tap the X at the top right to close the sheet.
A size in the sale has minus and plus buttons. It also has a line like "8 left · 2 in sale · MVR 15".
At the bottom, the sheet says "Counts can go below zero here. The counter never blocks a sale." If your shop keeps stock in more than one place, it says something like "Counts are for Back room. The counter sells only what is there." See Keep stock in more than one place.
When sizes have different prices, the tile shows the lowest one, like "From MVR 15".
Customers seethe size after the item name on their receipt, like "Iced coffee · Large".
Add to sale
This sheet is for items with extras, like "Sugar" or "Add cheese". Some also have sizes.
- Tap the item's tile.
- If there is a size list at the top, tap a size.
- In each group, tap what the customer wants. A round box means pick one. A square box means pick more than one.
- To sell more than one the same way, tap the plus button next to Quantity. It starts at 1.
- Check the line above the button. It says the price of one, like "MVR 25 each".
- Tap Add to sale · MVR 25 at the bottom. The sheet closes.
The size list and each group have a label next to their name (in capital letters):
- Must pick 1 (or 2): the customer has to pick. It turns into Picked when done.
- Pick up to 3: they can pick up to 3. When 3 are picked, the other choices look faded.
- Optional: they can pick one, or none.
Each size shows its price and count, as in Pick a size. The note at the bottom is the same too.
Each choice shows "No extra" or what it adds, like "+ MVR 5". Tap a picked choice again to take it off. If the customer must pick from a group with only one choice, it is already picked.
Sometimes the line above the button is orange, like "Nothing picked for Size, Sugar". Then pick from each group it names first. "This line will record MVR 0." means the item and the extras picked have no price.
A group that says "Nothing to pick here yet. Add options to this group in Items." has no choices yet. See Let customers add extras.
Some items have no sizes, but have an extra the customer must pick. Their tile shows "From", like "From MVR 25".
Each time you tap the tile or its green number, a new sheet opens. If you pick the same size and extras again, the number on that line goes up. Different picks make a new line.
To take one off the sale:
- Tap the left part of the green bar, with the number and edit (in capital letters). The Charge sheet opens with the list of items.
- Tap the minus button on the line you want.
The list shows the item and size, but not the extras. Check the price to find the right line. On a computer, the sale on the right shows the extras in grey under each line.
Customers seethe size and extras on their receipt, like "Latte · Large · Oat milk".
Colours and two lists
This sheet is for items set up with Colours, or with Two lists like Colour and Storage. Each mix, like Blue with 128GB, has its own price and count.
- Tap the item's tile. Under the name, the sheet says what to pick, like "Pick colour and storage".
- Tap a colour dot. Its name shows next to the list name, like "Colour · Blue".
- If there is a second list, tap a tile in it, like 128GB.
- Tap the big green button. It names the mix and its price, like "Add Blue · 128GB · MVR 450".
Until you pick from every list, the button says what is missing, like "Pick storage".
After you pick a colour, each tile shows its price. Some tiles say "Not sold": you do not sell that mix. "Sold out" in red means none are left. A small orange label like "2 left" means only a few are left. A colour with none left has a line across its dot.
The sheet stays open, so you can add another mix. Each mix you added shows under In this sale (in capital letters), with minus and plus buttons. It also says "Not counted", "3 more left", or "That's all of them" in orange. Tap the X at the top right when you are done.
If none of that mix are left, the button says something like "Blue · 128GB is sold out". You cannot tap it. It also says this when the last ones are already in this sale. See Add new stock and fix a count.
At the bottom, the sheet says "Each mix has its own count. Scanning a barcode adds its mix."
Customers seethe mix after the item name on their receipt, like "Phone · Blue · 128GB".
Ask the customer for these details
This sheet is for items that need details first. For example, a phone number for a top-up, or a name for a cake.
- Tap the item's tile. The sheet says "Ask the customer for these details."
- Ask the customer each question.
- Type each answer in its box, or tap the answer.
- Tap Add to sale at the bottom.
Add to sale stays grey until every answer the item needs is filled in. Answers like phone numbers and emails must look right.
If the item also has sizes, colours or extras, their sheet opens next.
When you tap the tile again, the sheet does not ask again. The new one gets the same answers. For different answers, take the item off the sale first, or make a new sale.
Customers seethe answers after the item name on their receipt, like "Birthday cake · Aisha".
Digital items, like top-ups, are different. The answers are not on the receipt. They stay with the order, so you know where to send it. See Sell digital items: codes, links and top-ups.
+ Custom
Use this to sell something that has no tile, or any amount.
- Tap + Custom, on the right of the search box at the top. A sheet called Custom item opens.
- Type what it is in the Name box, like "Gift wrap".
- Type the price of one in the Price (MVR) box.
- Change Quantity if there is more than one. It starts at 1.
- Tap Add custom item at the bottom.
The button stays grey until you type a name. It is also grey when Quantity is empty or 0. Always type a price: if Price (MVR) is empty, the item is added at MVR 0.
A custom item has no tile. To change how many, tap the left part of the green bar (edit). Then tap the minus or plus button. On a computer, use the sale on the right.
Customers seethe name and price you typed, on their receipt like any other item.
Packs
Some items are sold as a single, a pack or a case. One tap on the tile adds one pack. On the pack sheet, that pack is marked One tap adds this. Tap the green number on the tile to pick other packs. Packs need the Packs and barcodes add-on. See Packs and barcodes: sell by the piece, pack or case.
Who can use it
Everyone who can use the Counter: the owner, senior managers, managers and staff.
Only the owner, senior managers and managers can set up sizes, extras and questions, in Items.
The Counter needs a Storefront. Packs also need the Packs and barcodes add-on.
Common mistakes
It says Nothing picked for Size
The customer has not picked from every group the line names. Tap a size, and a choice in each group it names. Then tap Add to sale.
The green number does not let me take an item off
For items with extras, the green number opens a new sheet to add one more. To take one off, tap the left part of the green bar (edit). Then tap the minus button on the item's line. The list does not show the extras, so check the price.
Add to sale is grey
An answer is missing, or does not look right. Check each box. A phone number needs all its numbers.
The button says the mix is sold out
None of that mix are left, or the last ones are already in this sale. Pick another mix with the customer. Or add the new stock first. See Add new stock and fix a count.
My custom item says MVR 0
The Price (MVR) box was empty. Tap the left part of the green bar (edit). Tap the minus button to take the item off. Then tap + Custom and add it again with a price.
Tip
Give sizes and extras short names, like Large or Oat milk. They show on the receipt next to the item name. Short names keep the receipt easy to read.
