What it is

Booking online lets customers pick a free time on your shop page and book it themselves. Here you also set the rules they book by: the deposit, free changes, and how soon and how far ahead they can book. When it is off, customers see Message to book. Then they send you a message to book.

In your free trial, customers see Message to book, even when this is on. They can book once bookings open. See Open bookings.

Find it

As the owner, in a shop that started with bookings (the first tab says Bookings):

  1. Tap Settings in the bar at the bottom.
  2. Tap Booking online. It is in the Bookings group at the top, under Who gets booked. A sheet called Booking online opens. (A sheet is a panel that covers part of the screen.)

Under Booking online, a grey line sums up your rules, like "30% deposit · changes until 24 h before". When it is off, it says "Off · customers message you to book".

As the owner, in a shop that sells (the first tab says Orders):

  1. Tap Settings in the bar at the bottom.
  2. Scroll down to the Bookings group. It is above Delivery & payments.
  3. Tap Bookings. A sheet called Bookings settings opens.
  4. Scroll to the bottom, to Booking online.
  5. Tap the row under it. It says Customers book online or Customers message you to book. The Booking online sheet opens.

The owner, senior managers and managers can also start from the calendar:

  1. Tap the first tab in the bar at the bottom. It says Bookings or Orders.
  2. If Calendar is not picked at the top, tap Calendar.
  3. Tap the button with three dots at the top right, next to Day and Week. A sheet called Bookings opens.
  4. Tap Bookings settings.
  5. Scroll to the bottom, to Booking online.
  6. Tap the row under it. The Booking online sheet opens.
The calendar's three-dot button and its menu, with Bookings settings marked.

On a computer, the tabs are in the bar on the left.

No Bookings group in Settings? Then your shop has not set up bookings. See Set up bookings.

Every setting

Nothing changes until you tap Save at the bottom of the sheet.

To let customers book online:

  1. Tap the Customers book online switch. It turns green.
  2. Under Deposit to book, tap how much customers pay when they book.
  3. Tap Save.

The sheet closes. A short message says "Customers can book online now". Each part of the sheet is explained below, from top to bottom.

Customers book online

This switch is at the top. When it is green, the app says "They pick a free time on your shop page and book it."

When it is grey, the app says "Off until you're ready. Your page still shows your services, with Message to book."

It is off when you start. Did you tap Looks good on How customers book in your setup steps? Then it is on.

Sometimes the switch is grey and does not move. Then a grey box under it says what to add first. See Common mistakes below.

To turn it off:

  1. Tap the switch. The app says "Bookings already made stay in your book. New customers message you to book."
  2. Tap Save. A short message says "Online booking is off. Bookings already made stay."

In your free trial, customers see Message to book on every service, even with this switch on. The sheet does not tell you this. It even says "Customers can book online now" when you save. Customers can book once bookings open, when your plan is paid. See Open bookings.

You can still turn it on in your trial. Then customers can book from the day bookings open.

Customers see

Book next to each service, under Book a time on your shop page. Under that heading, a line shows your rules, like "30% deposit · Free to change until 24 hours before". When the switch is off, each service shows Message to book.

Your booking page

After you save with the switch on, a grey box shows under the switch. It is called Your booking page. It shows your link, like shop.eveyla.com/yourshop. This is your shop page, where customers book.

To copy the link, tap the small copy button on the right. It shows Copied. Then paste the link in a message to customers.

After a customer books, they also get their own booking page. That is a different page. The note at the bottom of this sheet talks about that one. See Your customer's booking page.

I confirm each booking first

This switch shows while Customers book online is on. It is off when you start. Under it, the app says "Off: customers book a free time straight away."

Turn it on if you want to say yes to each booking first. The app says "They ask for a time. It's theirs once you say yes."

When it is on, you pick how fast you answer. Under Answer within, tap 2 h, 6 h, 12 h or 24 h. 12 h is picked when you start.

A small picture shows the steps: They ask, You answer, They pay and Visit. With no deposit, They pay is not there.

Under the picture, the app says: "Times start at least 2 hours ahead, and your answer is due by 1 hour before the start. No answer in time: the time goes back and they see it on their page." With a deposit, it adds: "After your yes, they have 2 hours to pay the deposit."

To answer a request, see Answer a booking request.

One service can follow its own rule. In that service, Your OK before it's booked has Like the shop, Always and Never. Like the shop follows this switch. See Make a service bookable.

Customers see

Ask instead of Book on your shop page. When they pick a time, a line says your shop "answers within 12 hours. Nothing to pay until they say yes."

Deposit to book

A deposit is part of the price. Customers pay it when they book, and the rest at the visit. Tap one:

  • None: nothing to pay when they book. They pay it all at the visit.
  • 30% (picked when you start) or 50% of the price.
  • Full: the whole price, paid when they book.
  • Other: your own percent or amount. See Other below.

On the right of Deposit to book, grey words show one of your services as an example, like "On Gel polish, MVR 450". A bar under the buttons shows what that costs now and at the visit. For example, with 30%: "MVR 135 now, by transfer or PayPal" and "MVR 315 at the visit".

Customers pay a deposit by bank transfer, with a payment slip (the photo of a bank transfer). Or they pay by PayPal. So you need a bank account or PayPal in Payment details. A US dollar account counts only while USD prices are on. See Add your bank account, PayPal and cash on delivery.

With no bank account or PayPal, an orange box shows under the bar. It says customers can't pay a deposit online, and asks you to add a bank account or PayPal, or pick None. It has an Open Payment details button. See Common mistakes below.

A size of a service can have Pays at the visit switched on. That size takes no deposit. See Make a service bookable.

Customers see

the deposit in the line under Book a time, like "30% deposit", "MVR 100 deposit", "Paid when you book" or "Pay at the visit". They pay the deposit by bank transfer or PayPal when they book. See What customers see when they book.

Other

Tap Other to set your own deposit:

  1. Tap % for a part of the price, or MVR for an amount.
  2. Type the number in the box. For example, 25 for 25%, or 100 for MVR 100.

After the box, it says "% of the price" or "per booking". If the number is not right, a red line under the box says what to fix, like "Between 1 and 100%."

Until you type a number, Save stays grey.

Free to change or cancel until

Pick until when customers can change or cancel for free: It starts, 2 h, 12 h, 24 h or 2 days before the visit. 24 h is picked when you start.

A line under the buttons shows it as a picture, from Booked to Visit. The free part is green. When you keep the deposit, the part after it has orange stripes.

Under it, one sentence sums up your rule. For example: "Free to change or cancel until 24 h before. After that, you keep the deposit if they cancel or don't come."

With None, it says: "Customers can change or cancel on their booking page until 24 h before. After that they message you to change it, and can still cancel."

Customers see

"Free to change until 24 hours before" in the line under Book a time. With 2 days, it says 48 hours. Before they book, they see the rule with a day and time, like "Free to change or cancel until Fri 30 Oct, 10:00. After that, the deposit is kept if you cancel or don't come."

If they cancel late or don't come

This shows only when you ask for a deposit. It says what happens to the deposit when a customer cancels after the free time, or does not come.

  • You keep the deposit (picked when you start). With Full, it says You keep the payment.
  • You send it back.

When you keep it, a line says "You can still send it back on any booking, from its order."

Customers see

with You send it back, the rule says "After that you can still cancel, and the deposit comes back."

Earliest they can book

This row shows how soon a booking can start. It says "1 hour from now" when you start.

  1. Tap Earliest they can book. The choices open under it.
  2. Tap 30 min, 1 h, 2 h, 12 h or 1 day.

With I confirm each booking first on, the line under its picture says times start at least 2 hours ahead.

Customers see

no times sooner than this.

Furthest ahead

This row shows how far ahead customers can book. 60 days is picked when you start.

  1. Tap Furthest ahead. The choices open under it.
  2. Tap 14 days, 30 days, 60 days or 90 days.
Customers see

free times up to this many days ahead, and no further.

Save

At the bottom of the rules, a note says "Customers see these rules before they pay, and again on their booking page."

Save is at the very bottom. It is grey until you change something. Tap it to save. The sheet closes, and a short message says:

  • "Customers can book online now", when you turned the switch on
  • "Online booking is off. Bookings already made stay.", when you turned it off
  • "Booking rules saved", for any other change

If the save does not go through, a red message under the note says why.

To close the sheet without saving, tap the X at the top right.

Who can use it

The owner can open Booking online from Settings or from the calendar. Senior managers and managers can open it from the calendar. They can change the rules and save them too. Staff cannot open it.

Only the owner can open Payment details. So Open Payment details works only for the owner.

Booking online comes with bookings in the Storefront plan. Bookings come with the plan for one person, court or room. For more, Bookings for more is an add-on. You can see its price in the add-on store. See Bookings for more.

Common mistakes

The Customers book online switch is grey and does not move

A grey box under the switch says what to add first:

  • "Add who gets booked first, under Who gets booked." Add yourself, or someone who takes bookings. See Add who gets booked.
  • "Turn on Booking for a service in Items first, and check it's shown and available." Make a service bookable. If your shop sells only services, the tab is called Services, not Items. See Make a service bookable. Also check the service is not hidden or sold out. See Mark an item sold out or hide it.

Then open Booking online again.

I turned it on, but customers still see Message to book

  • Are you in your free trial? Customers see Message to book until bookings open. This is so even when the sheet says "Customers can book online now". See Open bookings.
  • Did you tap Save? Open the sheet again. The Customers book online switch should be green.
  • Does it happen on one service only? Someone who takes bookings must do that service. See Customers can't book.

Save stays grey

  • You have not changed anything. Save turns green after a change.
  • You tapped Other but did not type a number. Type one, or tap another deposit.
  • You ask for a deposit, but customers have no way to pay it. An orange box shows under Deposit to book. See the next problem.

An orange box says customers can't pay a deposit online

Customers pay a deposit by bank transfer or PayPal. Your shop has no bank account and no PayPal in Payment details.

If you are the owner:

  1. Tap Open Payment details in the orange box. The Booking online sheet closes without saving. Payment details opens.
  2. Add a bank account, or your PayPal ID. See Add your bank account, PayPal and cash on delivery.
  3. Open Booking online again, the same way as before.
  4. Make your changes again.
  5. Tap Save.

Do you have only a US dollar account? It counts only while USD prices are on. See Show prices in US dollars.

Or tap None under Deposit to book. Then customers pay everything at the visit.

If you are a manager, ask the owner to add a bank account or PayPal.

My changes are gone

You closed the sheet without tapping Save. The X at the top right closes it without saving. So does Open Payment details. Make your changes again, then tap Save.

Tip

Once bookings are open, copy the link from Your booking page. Put it in your Instagram bio and your WhatsApp status. Customers who tap it can pick a time without messaging you.
