What it is
Set up bookings is three short steps. First, you pick what people book from you. Next, you add who gets booked, with their hours. Last, you add your first service. Then your calendar opens.
Bookings come with the Storefront plan for one person, court or room. For more, Bookings for more is an add-on. You can see its price in the add-on store. See Bookings for more.
Customers can book once bookings open. See Open bookings.
Find it
There are two ways in.
Right after you open your shop, a page asks How do you want to start? If your shop is in Salons & spas, Trips & activities or Sports & classes, it shows two cards:
- Set up bookings: "Who gets booked, their hours and a service. Takes 3 minutes."
- Show me around first: "See what Eveyla can do. Set up bookings later."
- Tap Set up bookings.
Any new shop can also start from Grow's question on this page. Grow is your shop assistant in Eveyla.
- Tap Show me around first.
- On the page What brought you to Eveyla?, tap Take bookings. It says "Appointments, courts, trips and classes".
- Tap Continue. The setup opens right away.
You can also start from Settings at any time:
- Tap Settings in the bar at the bottom.
- Under Storefront, tap Take bookings. It says "One person, court or room is in your plan".
On a computer, Settings is in the bar on the left.
At the top right of the setup, three short bars show which step you are on. Back at the top left goes back one step. On the first step, it takes you back to Settings. If you started after opening your shop, it takes you back to How do you want to start?
Every setting
To set up bookings:
- Tap the card that fits what people book from you. A green tick shows on it. You can tick more than one.
- Tap Next.
- Tap the row with a plus, like Add yourself. A sheet called Who gets booked opens. (A sheet is a panel that covers part of the screen.)
- Type the name in the Name box. Your own first name may be there already.
- Look at the hours for each day. To change a day, tap it.
- Tap Add.
- Tap Next.
- Type the name of your service in the Name box. For example, Gel polish.
- Type the price in the Price box. For example, 450 for MVR 450. MVR is already there.
- Under How long it takes, tap a length, like 1 h.
- Tap Open my calendar.
Your calendar opens. See After you tap Open my calendar, below.
What do people book from you?
This is the first step. Under the title, it says "Pick all that fit. You can add the others later." Tap a card to tick it. Tap it again to take the tick off.
- Time with you or your team: "Nails, hair, massage, lessons, repairs"
- A court, boat or thing by the hour: "Futsal, jet ski, studio, kayak"
- Seats on a trip, class or event: "Dive and snorkel trips, speedboats, classes"
One card may be ticked when you start. Salons & spas shops start with Time with you or your team. Trips & activities shops start with Seats on a trip, class or event. Sports & classes shops start with A court, boat or thing by the hour.
Next stays grey until a card is ticked. What you tick changes what the next two steps offer first.
Who gets booked?
Under the title, it says "Each one gets their own hours and their own lane in the calendar." A lane is their own column in your calendar.
The first row has a plus. Its words follow what you ticked:
- Add yourself: "Your name and the hours people can book you". It shows when you ticked Time with you or your team.
- Add your court, boat or studio: "Its name and the hours it can be booked"
- Add your boat or class: "Its seats and the hours it goes out"
After you add one, it shows in the list with its hours, like "Sat to Thu · 10:00 to 20:00". Your own row says "(you)" after your name. To change one, tap its row.
To add more, tap Add someone or something.
Under the list, a box says "One person, court or room is in your plan". Its next line says that two or more, or seats on a trip, need Bookings for more. Bookings for more is an add-on. You can see its price in the add-on store. If your shop has it already, a green line says "Bookings for more is on."
If nobody is in the list, Next opens the Who gets booked sheet instead.
The Who gets booked sheet
From top to bottom:
- A person or A court, boat or room. Tap the one that fits.
- Name. Type the name.
- Seats, for a court, boat or room. It says "1 for a court or a room". For a boat or a class, set how many people fit.
- Colour on the calendar. Tap a colour.
- Hours: one row for each day, from Sat to Fri. Tap a day to change it.
- Pause at prayer times. It is on when you start. A person starts on Nothing starts then. A court, boat or room starts on Keep it free.
Add stays grey until there is a name. When you tap it, the sheet closes. For more about each part, see Add who gets booked.
Your first service
Under the title, it says "What people book, how long it takes and the price. Add more in Services." If your shop also sells items, it says Items instead of Services.
- The square with a camera, on the left: tap it to add a photo. This is optional.
- Name: what people book. For example, Gel polish.
- Price: the price in MVR.
- How long it takes: 45 min, 1 h, 1 h 30, 2 h or More. 1 h is picked when you start. More shows a minus and a plus button, to make it shorter or longer.
- Who does it: a button for each person, court or room you added. All are picked when you start. Tap one to take it off.
Above the button, until you pay your plan, a note says your calendar is ready to look at. It also says bookings open when you pay your plan.
When you tap Open my calendar, your service is saved. To add more services or change this one, see Make a service bookable.
Customers seeyour service under Book a time on your shop page. Until bookings open and Booking online is on, its button says Message to book. See Choose how customers book online.
Your first trip
If you added a boat or class with seats, this step may say Your first trip instead. It has:
- How long the trip takes: 1 h, 2 h, 3 h, 4 h or More. 2 h is picked when you start.
- Leaves at: tap Add a time for each time the boat leaves. To take a time off, tap it. Under it, the app says "Every day the boat goes out. Set other days and times in Services."
- Which boat or class: a button for each boat or class. All are picked when you start. Tap one to take it off.
After you tap Open my calendar
Your calendar opens on today.
Is your shop in Salons & spas, Trips & activities or Sports & classes? Or did you start from How do you want to start? or Grow's question? Then the first tab in the bar is now Bookings. While you sell only services, the Items tab is called Services.
Any other shop keeps Orders as its first tab. At the top of it, a switch shows Orders and Calendar. Calendar is picked now.
Until you pay your plan, a green note says "This is your day as it will look. Bookings open when you pay. Till then, set up and look around." See Open bookings.
On a shop with Bookings first, Finish setting up also shows at the bottom of today, until you pay your plan or finish every step. It shows how many steps are done, like 3/7, and the next step. Tap it. A page called Set up your shop opens. See Your first day: a checklist.
Settings changes too:
- With Bookings first, a Bookings group is near the top of Settings. It has Who gets booked and Booking online.
- On any other shop, Take bookings is gone. A Bookings group shows after Your link, with a row called Bookings.
- Before you pay your plan, Try your booking page can show in that group. See Try your booking page.
Sell products too
This row is for a shop with Bookings first that sells only services. It is in Settings, under Payments, in a group with no title. It says "Delivery and stock, once you add a product".
- Tap Settings in the bar at the bottom.
- Tap Sell products too. A sheet with the same name opens.
- Tap Add something to sell.
The sheet says "Add something to sell, like a gift card or a product you use, and Eveyla adds what selling needs." It lists what comes with selling:
- A Shop section on your page: "Under Book a time, with a basket"
- Delivery and pickup: "Fees, areas and hours, in Settings"
- Stock on items: "Count what's left, and mark one sold out"
A green note says "Bookings stays first. Orders for products come in next to your bookings, under Orders."
Add something to sell opens your Services page with a sheet for a new item. See Add your first item.
Once you add a product, the Services tab is called Items. Selling rows like Delivery come back in Settings, and Sell products too goes away. Bookings stays your first tab.
Who can use it
Only the owner can set up bookings. Team members do not see the setup, Take bookings or Settings. Later, senior managers and managers can add who gets booked from the calendar. See Add who gets booked.
Bookings need a Storefront. A free listing has no bookings. See Free listing and Storefront.
The Storefront plan has bookings for one person, court or room. For two or more, or seats on a trip, you need the add-on Bookings for more. You can see its price in the add-on store.
Common mistakes
I do not see Take bookings in Settings
Take bookings shows only to the owner, and only until bookings are set up.
- Does Settings have a Bookings group? Then bookings are set up already.
- Does the first tab say Home? Your shop is a free listing. See Free listing and Storefront.
Next does not take me to the next step
On the first step, tick at least one card. Next stays grey until you do.
On the second step, add someone first. With nobody in the list, Next opens the Who gets booked sheet. Type a name, then tap Add.
On the sheet, Add stays grey until there is a name. "Keep the name under 40 characters." means the name is too long. A red line under the hours names a day to fix, like "Monday: Each stretch ends after it starts."
A red message shows when I tap Open my calendar
Each one says what to fix:
- "Give the service a name." Type a name in Name.
- "Add a price, like 450 or 12.50" Type a price in Price, using numbers.
- "Pick who does it." Tap at least one button under Who does it.
- "Add a time the trip leaves." Tap Add a time under Leaves at.
- "That didn't go through. Check your connection and try again." Check your internet. Then tap Open my calendar again.
- "No connection, so that didn't go through. Try again when you're back online." This can show when you added a photo. Wait until your internet is back. Then tap Open my calendar again.
I left the setup before the end
Everyone you added in the second step stays. A service is saved only when you tap Open my calendar. Once you tap Next on the first step, Take bookings is no longer in Settings.
To carry on:
- To add who gets booked, see Add who gets booked.
- To add a service, see Make a service bookable.
Customers see Message to book, not Book
Customers can book online only once bookings open and Booking online is on. See Open bookings and Choose how customers book online.
Tip
Before you open bookings, go through your booking page the way a customer would. The page says "Nothing is booked and nobody is told." See Try your booking page.
