What it is

Extras are things customers can add to an item. For example, an extra egg on a meal, or gift wrap on a present. You put extras in groups, like "Toppings" or "Spice level". The app says: "Extras add to the price and never change your stock."

Find it

  1. Tap Items in the bar at the bottom.
  2. Tap the item's name or photo, not the button on the right of its row.
  3. Tap Extras in the round buttons under the tiles. A panel called Extras opens.

If you do not see Extras, tap All. Then tap Extras in the list.

On a computer, Items is in the bar on the left. The item opens on the right.

Every setting

To add a group of extras:

  1. Tap Add the first group. A panel called New group opens.
  2. Type a name in the Group name box, like Toppings.
  3. If customers must choose from this group, turn on Customers must pick. It is under Group name.
  4. Under Choices, tap Add a choice.
  5. Type the choice in the new box, like Extra cheese.
  6. In the box next to +MVR, type what it adds to the price, like 10. Leave it empty if it is free.
  7. Tap Add a choice again for each other choice.
  8. Under How many can they pick?, above the choices, tap 1, Up to 2, Up to 3 or Any.
  9. Tap Done at the top right. You are back in Extras.
  10. Tap Done again. The item saves.

The group now shows as a card in Extras. The card shows its name, a label like "Pick 1" and its choices. To add another group, tap Add a group.

The Extras button turns green and shows how many groups you have. In your Items list, the item shows the same number in orange.

Group name

The name customers see above the choices. The box shows "e.g. Spice level" or "e.g. Gift wrap" in grey. That is only an example.

Customers must pick

Off when you start, so customers can skip the group. Turn it on when they must choose, like a spice level. Under the switch, the app says "They can't add the dish without it". Shops that do not sell food see "product" instead of "dish".

The label on the group's card adds "· must pick" in orange.

Customers see

a Required label next to the group's name. With 1, the first choice is already picked for them, and they can change it. With Up to 2, Up to 3 or Any, the button says "Select Toppings" until they pick one. When the switch is off, they see "Optional" instead.

How many can they pick?

  • 1 (picked when you start): customers pick one choice. They see round buttons. The card says "Pick 1".
  • Up to 2 or Up to 3: customers can pick more than one. They see small boxes to tick. The card says "Pick up to 2" or "Pick up to 3".
  • Any: customers can pick more than one. They see small boxes to tick. The card says "Pick any". With 3 choices or fewer, it says "Pick up to 4".
Customers see

"Optional · up to 2" next to a group they can skip. If they try to pick one too many, they see "Up to 2. Tap one to remove it first." To take off all their picks, they tap Clear.

Choices

Each choice has a name and a price. The price is what it adds to the item's price. On the card, a choice shows "+ MVR 10", or "Free" when it adds nothing. To take a choice off, tap the small × on its right.

Under the choices, the app shows what customers see.

Customers see

each choice with what it adds, like "+MVR 10". Free choices show no price. The button adds it all up, like "Add · MVR 60".

On the order page, the extras show under the item, like "Extra cheese (+MVR 10)".

Change or delete a group

  1. Tap the group's card in Extras.
  2. Make your change.
  3. Tap Done. You are back in Extras.
  4. Tap Done again. The item saves.

To delete a group:

  1. Tap the group's card in Extras.
  2. Tap Delete this group at the bottom. The app asks "Delete this group and its choices?"
  3. Tap Delete. You are back in Extras. To keep the group, tap Keep it instead.
  4. Tap Done to save.

Turn off extras

  1. In Extras, tap Turn off extras at the bottom.
  2. The app asks "Remove all extras from this item?" Tap Remove all.

The item saves, and the app says "Extras off".

To sell items with extras at the Counter (the POS tab), see Sell items with sizes, extras or questions at the Counter.

Who can use it

The owner, senior managers and managers can add extras. Staff do not see the Items tab.

Extras need a Storefront.

Common mistakes

A red message shows when I tap Done

Each message says what to fix:

  • "Give every group of extras a name." A group has choices but no name. Tap the card that says "Untitled group" and type a name.
  • "Add at least one choice to "Toppings", or remove the group." Tap the group and add a choice. Or tap Delete this group.
  • "Check the prices in "Toppings"." A price is too big. Check the numbers.

Customers cannot order without picking an extra

Customers must pick is on for that group. If the extra is not needed, tap the group and turn the switch off.

The extra I did not want is already picked

With 1 and Customers must pick, customers start with the top choice under Choices picked. Choices stay in the order you added them. A new choice goes to the bottom. So remove the choices above the one you want first, and add them again:

  1. Tap the group's card in Extras.
  2. Tap the small × next to the top choice.
  3. Tap Add a choice.
  4. Type that choice again, with its price.
  5. Do steps 2 to 4 until the choice you want is at the top.
  6. Tap Done. You are back in Extras.
  7. Tap Done again. The item saves.

Tip

Add the choice most customers want first, like "Medium" for spice. When customers must pick one, it is already picked for them, so ordering takes one tap less.
