What it is

Close the day is a report for the end of each day. It shows how much cash should be in your drawer, today's sales and who sold what. You type the cash you counted, and the app tells you if it matches. It always shows today.

Find it

  1. Tap Insights in the bar at the bottom.
  2. Tap the round button with a page picture, at the top right. Reports opens.
  3. Tap the dark card at the top. It says Every day and Close the day.
Insights on a phone. The round button with a page picture, at the top right, is marked.

The dark card also shows a line like "So far MVR 1,250 from 8 sales", and Count.

On the Overview tab, there is another way:

  1. Tap the pill (a round-ended button) at the top of the dark card. It says something like This month. A sheet called Show me opens. (A sheet is a panel that covers part of the screen.)
  2. Tap Today.
  3. Tap the card Close the day, under the dark card. It says "Check your drawer before you lock up".

On a computer, Insights is in the bar on the left, and the round button says Reports.

Two more buttons open Insights:

  • If you are the owner, tap How today went on the order board. It shows in the "All caught up" card, when Live has no orders.
  • Open the Counter (the POS tab). The owner and senior managers can tap the Today pill at the top. It shows today's sales, like "Today · MVR 450".

After that, tap the round button with a page picture. Then tap the dark card Close the day.

See See how your shop is doing.

Every setting

To close the day:

  1. Count the cash in your drawer.
  2. Type the amount in the What did you count? box.
  3. Read the message under the box. It says if your drawer matches.
  4. Tap Send day summary at the bottom.
  5. WhatsApp opens. Pick a chat, like the owner's.
  6. Tap send.

Each part of the screen is explained below. Under the title is today's date, like "Saturday 17 October".

Your drawer should hold

The dark card at the top shows how much cash should be in your drawer, like MVR 1,250. Under it, these lines show what goes into that number:

  • Cash sales: today's sales paid in cash.
  • Credit paid in cash, with a +: cash that people paid into your credit book today. (The credit book is your list of who owes you money.) See Record a payment in the credit book.
  • Credit given back in cash, with a −: cash you gave back from the credit book today. It only shows on days you did this. See Fix a mistake in the credit book.
  • Paid out of the drawer, with a −.

What did you count?

Type the cash you counted in this box. It shows "MVR 0" in grey until you type. A message shows under it:

  • "Spot on. Your drawer matches." in green.
  • "MVR 50 short" in red: there is less cash than there should be.
  • "MVR 50 over" in yellow: there is more cash than there should be.

The app says: "Only a check. Nothing is saved." When you leave the screen, the number you typed is gone.

Today's sales

This card shows the total for today, like MVR 3,400, and how many orders, like "12 orders". Under it, one line for each way of paying:

  • Cash sales
  • Card sales (only on days with a card payment)
  • Transfer sales
  • Cash on delivery
  • On credit: sales put in the credit book today.

For the ways of paying at the Counter, see Take cash, card, transfer or credit at the Counter.

Fees collected

This card shows only on days you sold items with a fee. The app says: "Part of today's sales. Keep it aside to pay over." Each fee shows its name and how many, like "Plastic bag fee · 3". The amount is on the right. See Packs and barcodes: fees on items.

Who sold what

This card shows when two or more people sold today, at the Counter or with pay links (payment links you send). The app says: "Counter and pay link sales, by who made them. Each person's cash is what they should hand in."

Each person shows:

  • their name, or You for yourself
  • how many sales, like "5 sales", and the total, like MVR 900
  • Cash and an amount, like "Cash 600": the cash they should hand in
  • a bar: the longest bar is the person who sold the most
  • a line like "600 cash · 300 transfer". It can also show "card", "on credit" and "links unpaid" (pay links not paid yet). If there is nothing to show, it says "Nothing paid yet".

Under the people, you may see two more rows:

  • Counter, seller not recorded: Counter sales with no name on them.
  • Online orders: orders from your shop page, like "4 orders · no seller".

See Send a pay link.

Credit paid back and Spent today

Two small cards are at the bottom:

  • Credit paid back: how much people paid into your credit book today. A line like "300 cash · 200 transfer" shows how. It can also show PayPal and card. If you gave money back, it says something like "Given back 100".
  • Spent today: expenses paid today, and how many, like "2 expenses". See Add your expenses.

Send day summary

Tap this button to send today's numbers on WhatsApp. WhatsApp opens with a message ready. It starts with your shop name, "Day summary" and the date. Then come lines for sales, each way of paying, credit, expenses, fees and who sold what. It ends with a line like "Drawer should hold: MVR 1,250".

The message does not have the cash you counted. You can type it in WhatsApp before you send.

To go back to Reports, tap the back arrow at the top left.

Who can use it

The owner and senior managers can use Close the day. Managers and staff do not see Insights.

It needs a Storefront. It is not part of the free listing. It does not need an add-on.

Common mistakes

I can't find Close the day

Only the owner and senior managers have Insights. If you are the owner and do not see Insights, your shop is a free listing. See Free listing and Storefront.

On the Overview tab, the Close the day card only shows when you pick one day. Tap the pill at the top of the dark card. Then tap Today.

My drawer is short or over

Check that each sale was saved with the right way to pay, like cash or card. If a Counter sale has the wrong one, reverse (undo) it. Then make the sale again on the Counter. See Counter receipts and fixing a sale.

If someone paid what they owe in cash, write it in the credit book. It then shows as Credit paid in cash.

It says Couldn't load today

The app may say "Try again in a moment." Check your internet. Tap the back arrow. Then open Close the day again.

I want to see an earlier day

Close the day always shows today. To see the sales of an earlier day, use Sales summary in Reports. See Sales summary, sales by item and other free reports.

Tip

Send the day summary every night, to yourself or to the owner. Type what you counted at the end of the message. Then you have a record of every day in WhatsApp.
