What it is
A fee is an extra charge on top of the price, like a plastic bag fee. The owner makes each fee once, for the whole shop. Then you switch it on for each item that carries it. It shows as its own line in the basket and at checkout (the last page, where customers place the order). It also shows at the Counter (the POS tab) and on receipts.
Find it
- Tap Items in the bar at the bottom.
- Tap the item's name or photo.
- Tap the round Fees button under the tiles.
A panel called Fees slides up. It says "Added on top of the price, outside discounts. Tick the fees this item carries." This means discounts do not make the fee smaller.
If you do not see Fees, tap All at the end of the round buttons. Then tap Fees in the list.
On a computer, Items is in the bar on the left. The item opens on the right side of the screen.
If Fees has a small lock, your shop does not have the Packs and barcodes add-on yet. (In All, it has an Add-on tag.) Tap Fees. Then tap See Packs and barcodes to try it or buy it. If you are not the owner, ask the owner. See Turn an add-on on or off. Other locked buttons, like Packs, work the same way. See Packs and barcodes: sell by the piece, pack or case.
Every setting
To make a fee (owner only):
- In Fees, tap Add your first fee at the bottom of the list. (When you already have a fee, it says New fee.) A panel called New fee opens.
- Type a name in the Name box, like Plastic bag fee.
- Type the amount in the Amount box, like 2.
- Under Charged, tap For each one or Once per order. (This title shows in capital letters.)
- For a plastic bag fee, tap the This is the plastic bag fee switch so it turns green.
- Tap Add fee. You are back in Fees. The new fee is already switched on for this item.
- Tap Done at the top right.
On an item you already added, a dark message says "Saved" at the bottom. On a new item, tap Add to my shop at the bottom.
To put a fee you already made on another item:
- Open the item.
- Tap Fees.
- Tap the switch next to the fee so it turns green.
- Tap Done at the top right.
Fees
Each fee in the list shows its name and a line like "MVR 2 for each one" or "MVR 5 once per order". If your shop has GST, the line adds "bag fee, no GST" or "with GST".
The switch on the right puts the fee on this item. Green means on. The owner also sees a small gear button to change the fee.
Under the list, a box shows the fees on this item, with "For each one in the cart" or "Once on the order". The app says "Shows as its own line on the cart, checkout, Counter and receipts."
While the fees load, the panel says "Loading fees…". If they cannot load, a message at the top of the item says "Couldn't load this item's fees. Close it and open it again."
Name
The name customers see on the fee line. The box says "e.g. Plastic bag fee".
Amount
The fee in MVR. The box starts with a grey 0. Type a number above 0, up to 10,000.
Charged
You have two choices:
- For each one (picked when you start): the app says "3 in the cart, 3 times the fee. A kg item counts whole kg, rounded up." For example, 1.5 kg counts as 2.
- Once per order: the app says "Once on any order with an item that carries it."
Customers seea line like "Plastic bag fee · 3 × MVR 2" with the total. With only one in the basket, the line shows only the fee's name. A once per order fee also shows only its name.
This is the plastic bag fee
This switch starts off. Turn it on for your plastic bag fee.
If your shop has no GST, the app says "Turn on if this is the plastic bag fee. It's shown on its own line."
If your shop has GST:
- When the switch is off, the app says "Turn on if this is the plastic bag fee. It's kept out of GST and shown on its own line." A line under it says how GST works on the fee. For example, "GST 8% goes on top of the fee, like your prices." or "GST is counted inside the fee, like your prices."
- When the switch is on, the app says "No GST on it. Your GST return reports it on its own line, as MIRA asks." MIRA is the Maldives tax office.
Change a fee
- In Fees, tap the gear next to the fee. A panel with the fee's name opens.
- Change what you need.
- Tap Save fee.
The app says "Fees are set for your whole shop. Changes show on new orders only." Tapping the back arrow or Done also saves a change.
Remove this fee
- Tap the gear next to the fee.
- Tap Remove this fee at the bottom.
- Tap Remove.
The app says "Items stop adding it. Past orders keep it on their receipts." To keep the fee, tap Keep it.
No fees on this item
This shows at the bottom of Fees when the item has a fee. Tap it to take every fee off this item. The fees stay in your shop for other items.
Where the fee shows
Customers seethe fee line in the basket, in the total at checkout and on their receipt.
At the Counter, the fee shows as its own line when you tap Charge, and on the receipt. Lines you add with + Custom have no fees. See Take cash, card, transfer or credit at the Counter.
For how the fee adds up with delivery and other charges, see How customers order from you.
Who can use it
Only the owner can make, change or remove fees. Senior managers and managers can switch fees on or off for an item. Staff do not see the Items page.
Fees need a Storefront and the Packs and barcodes add-on. Only the owner can buy the add-on. You can see the price in the add-on store.
Common mistakes
"Give it a name and an amount above 0, up to 10,000."
The name or the amount is missing, or the amount is 0. Type both, then tap Add fee or Save fee.
"Only the owner can add or change fees."
You are a manager or senior manager. You can switch fees on for items. Ask the owner to make a new fee. If the shop has no fees yet, the app says "No fees yet. The shop owner can add them here."
My new amount is not on an old order
The app says "Changes show on new orders only." Orders placed before the change keep the old fee.
My plastic bag fee has GST on it
Tap the gear next to the fee. Turn on This is the plastic bag fee. Then tap Save fee.
"That change didn't save. Open it again and tap Save."
Your change did not save when you left the fee. Tap the gear next to the fee. Make the change again and tap Save fee. If you see "No connection, so this didn't save.", wait until you are back online.
Tip
Make one plastic bag fee for the whole shop. Switch it on only for items that go in a bag, like drinks and snacks. Customers see the bag fee as its own line. If your shop has GST, your GST return also shows it on its own line.
