What it is
You pick photos, and Eveyla reads them. Then you check each item, fix what is missing and add them all at once. It saves typing when you have many items. Reading photos uses Grow credits. Grow is your shop assistant in Eveyla. Grow credits pay for its work. To add one item for free, see Add your first item.
Find it
- Tap Items in the bar at the bottom.
- Tap the green Add items button at the top. On an empty Items page, tap Add your first item instead. A page called Add items opens.
- Tap Photos. It says "Products, menus or price lists" under it. A page called Choose photos opens.
On a computer, Items is in the bar on the left, and the green button says Add item. You can also drag photos onto the Choose photos page.
If you do not see Items, your shop may be a free listing. Reading photos needs a Storefront. See Free listing and Storefront.
Grow may also show a Get started card with a Snap or paste a list button. It opens the same page. See Grow: today's moves. On your very first day, you may add photos on a page called Fill your shelf instead. Then a page says "Reading your photos". See Your first minutes in the app.
Every setting
To add items from photos:
- Tap Add, the first box with a +.
- Pick your photos. Each one shows in a box.
- Read the orange line at the bottom. It says how many Grow credits this uses, like "Reading 4 photos uses 1 credit".
- Tap Read 4 photos at the bottom. The number is how many photos you picked.
- Wait on the Reading photos page. Your items open by themselves when it is done.
- Fix the items that need you. See Needs you below.
- Tap Add 12 items at the bottom. The number is how many new items will be added.
The page says "12 items added" and "They are in your shop now". Tap Back to items.
Customers seeyour new items on your shop page right away.
Choose photos
This page shows the photos you picked. To take one off, tap the small X on it. The app says "Photo removed".
A photo of one product becomes that item's photo. A photo of a menu or price list gives names and prices, but no item photos.
The small orange box at the top right shows how many Grow credits your shop has. The orange line at the bottom says how many credits the reading uses. It also says how many you will have left.
If you have too few credits for all your photos, it says something like "8 photos need 2 credits. You have 1." The button then says Read first 6 · 1 credit. It reads only the first photos. The owner also sees Top up credits. Senior managers and managers see "Only the owner can buy credits. Ask them to top up, or add these by hand for free."
Reading photos
A green bar shows how many photos are read, like "3 of 8". Each photo gets a label when it is read:
- the item name and price, for a photo of one product
- a count like "5 items", for a menu or price list
- "Nothing found" in orange, when there was nothing to sell in it
The rows below say how each group of photos is doing, like "Photos 1 to 6" and Reading…. To stop, tap Cancel at the bottom. You go back to your photos.
If your internet drops, the app says "You're offline" and "Reading carries on when you're back. You're only charged once."
If some photos did not read, their row says "Couldn't read these · credit returned". Tap Try photos 1 to 6 · 1 credit to try again. If it says "Not enough credits · no credit was used", your shop needs more credits first. If it says "Waiting for connection", tap Check again. To go on with what was found, tap Check 9 items now at the bottom.
If no photo could be read, it says "Couldn't read your photos. All 2 credits are back. Your photos are still here." Tap Try again, or Add items by hand.
12 items
The title says how many items were found. When every item has its own photo, you see a grid of photos. Each photo shows the name and price. Tap a photo to change it.
When some items have no photo, for example from a menu photo, you see a list instead. It works like a pasted list. See Add items from a list or spreadsheet.
Under the title, a line says what is left, like "2 need a fix · 1 to check". When nothing is left, it says "All ready".
Orange notes at the top may say "Photo 3 had nothing to sell in it." or "Photos 1 to 6 didn't read. Add them again or enter them by hand."
Needs you
When some items need you, three buttons show under the title: All 12, Needs you 3 and Ready 9. Tap Needs you 3 to see only those items.
Items that need a fix stay here until you fix them. They are not added. In the grid, their label says Add price, Fix price or Add a name. In the list, they say "No price yet", "Price must be a number" or "Needs a name". Above the green button, the app says "2 stay here until you fix them".
Items to check can be added as they are, but look at them first:
- A price the app was not sure about. In the grid, the price shows in orange. In the list, the row says "We weren't sure we read this price right". Tap the item. Check the price. Then tap Save and next or Done. In the list, you can tap 25 is right instead.
- A name that is in your list twice. In the grid, the label says Also in list. Tap one. Then tap Leave out, or change its name. In the list, the row says "Also in this list at 30". Tap Keep both to keep both items. Tap Keep this one to take the other copy off your list. The app says "Removed 1 copy". Tap Undo right away to bring it back.
Tap the first item that needs you. A sheet opens. (A sheet is a panel that covers part of the screen.) It takes you through the items one by one. At the top it says "1 of 3 to fix" (in capital letters). Tap Save and next to go on, or Previous to go back. On the last one, the button says Done.
Change one item
Tap a photo, or a row in the list. A sheet slides up with the item's name at the top.
- Leave out: takes the item off your list. The app says "Left out". Tap Undo right away to bring it back.
- Name: what customers call the item.
- Price: type the price in MVR. If the box is empty, it says "Add a price to put this in your shop". If you type letters, it says "Numbers only, like 25 or 12.50".
- Category: tap one of your categories, or one found in your photos. To make a new one, tap + New and type its name in the New category box.
- Unit: how it is sold, like 1kg.
- About: a short line about the item. You can leave it empty.
Tap Done to keep your changes. The app says "Changed". Tapping the dark part of the screen closes the sheet without keeping your changes.
Customers seethe name, price, unit and About line on the item.
Same price for all
This button shows when some items have no price. It says how many, like Same price for all 5.
- Tap Same price for all 5.
- Type the price in the Price box.
- Tap Done.
Done stays grey until you type a number. If you type letters, it says "Numbers only, like 25 or 12.50". Only items with no price get it. Prices already there do not change. The app says "5 prices set to MVR 25".
Add 12 items
This green button adds your items to your shop. It counts the new items only. Items that need a fix stay on the page. You will see a note like "9 added to your shop. 3 left to fix." Tap Hide to close the note.
While it works, it says "Uploading photo 2 of 9…", then "Saving…".
New items are Shown, so customers can order them. They go at the end of your list. Categories found in your photos are added to your shop too. To move items, see Choose the order items show in.
Some items may have the same name as an item you already have. Those are not added again. Your old item gets the new price instead, and the photo is not used. Its category and unit may change too. So the button may count fewer items than the title. If every item is like this, the button says Update 2 prices.
12 items added
This page shows when every item is added. It says "They are in your shop now". It also says how many credits were used, like "1 credit used · 19 left". The buttons below help you with the next step:
- Add photos: shows when none of the new items has a photo. Your Items page then shows only the new items, with the line "Showing the 12 items you just imported". Tap each item to add its photo. See Change an item's name, photos, price or details. Tap Show all to see every item again.
- Share my shop: opens a sheet to send your shop link to customers. See Share your shop link and QR code.
- Set up as digital: may show for shops that sell top-ups or gift cards. See Sell digital items: codes, links and top-ups.
To close, tap Back to items.
You already read this
To go back to your photos after a read, tap the arrow at the top left. If you tap Read 4 photos again, a sheet called You already read this opens. It says "Reading again uses 1 credit and replaces your 12 items, including prices you typed."
- Back to my 12 items: keeps your items.
- Read again: reads your photos again and uses credits.
Close without reading?
To leave, tap the X at the top right. If your photos are not read yet, the app asks "Close without reading?" Your photos are not kept. Tap Close to leave, or Keep editing to stay.
After a read, the app asks "Keep this list for later?" instead. If you keep it, a card called "Your list is waiting" shows at the top of your Items page. See Add items from a list or spreadsheet.
Who can use it
The owner, senior managers and managers can add items from photos. Staff do not see the Items tab.
It needs a Storefront. Reading photos uses Grow credits. Only the owner can buy credits. See Grow credits.
Common mistakes
Photos is grey and says Needs a credit
Your shop has no Grow credits for reading. The app says "No credits for reading. Adding items one by one is always free." The owner can tap Top up credits. Or tap One at a time (on an empty shop, Add one by hand) to add items for free.
A photo says Nothing found
There was nothing to sell in that photo. First, add your other items with the green button at the bottom. Then take a new photo of the product, close up, in good light. Tap Add items again and read only the new photo. Or add the item by hand. See Add your first item.
The button counts fewer items than I have
Items that need a fix are not counted. Tap Needs you and fix them. Items with the same name as an item already in your shop are not counted either. They update that item's price.
I wanted to add photos to items I already have
Reading photos does not add a photo to an item you already have. Open the item and add the photo there. See Change an item's name, photos, price or details.
It says Couldn't add your items
Nothing was added, and your list is kept. Read the message, then tap Try again. If a photo did not upload, tap Add without photos to add the items with no photos.
Tip
Take one product per photo, close up, on a plain table. Then each photo becomes the item's photo, and customers see what they are buying.
