What it is

Telegram is a chat app. Eveyla has a Telegram account called Eveyla Bot (@eveyla_bot). A bot is an account that sends messages by itself. Once you connect, Eveyla Bot sends you a message for every new order. Use it with phone pings, or instead of them. For phone pings, see Get a ping for every new order.

Find it

You need Telegram on your phone first.

  1. Tap Settings in the bar at the bottom.
  2. Under Storefront, tap Order alerts. A sheet called Order alerts opens. (A sheet is a panel that covers part of the screen.)
  3. Find the second card, "Get order alerts on Telegram".
Settings on a phone. In the Storefront group, the Order alerts row is marked.

On a computer, Settings is in the bar on the left.

Senior managers and managers do not have Settings. They do this instead:

  1. Tap your shop name at the top left. The shop menu opens.
  2. Tap Order alerts on this phone.
  3. Find the Telegram card at the bottom of the sheet.

See Order alerts for your team.

Every setting

To connect on your phone:

  1. Tap Connect Telegram. Telegram opens, in the chat with Eveyla Bot.
  2. Tap START at the bottom of the chat.
  3. Eveyla Bot replies: "Connected. Order alerts for Example Shop will arrive here."
  4. Go back to Eveyla.

The app says "Telegram connected". The card now says "Telegram alerts are on". It changes by itself. You do not need to refresh.

Get order alerts on Telegram

This is the card before you connect. It says "Every new order pings you on Telegram. Takes about 30 seconds." Under the button, it says "Opens Telegram in a new tab. This page stays open." After you tap Connect Telegram, the button says "Starting…" for a moment.

Finish in Telegram

After you tap Connect Telegram, the card says "Finish in Telegram". It shows two steps: "Tap START in Telegram" and "Come back to Eveyla". The line "Waiting for Telegram…" stays until you tap START.

If the card says "Tap Open Telegram to continue.", tap Open Telegram. If Telegram opened and you closed it, tap Open again.

No START button?

If you do not see START in Telegram, send a code instead:

  1. In the card, tap Copy next to the code. The app says "Code copied". The code looks like K7P 4QX.
  2. Open Telegram.
  3. Search for @eveyla_bot.
  4. Tap Eveyla Bot to open the chat.
  5. Paste the code in the chat.
  6. Tap send.

If the app says "Couldn't copy. Type the code instead.", type the code in the chat yourself.

The card says "Works for 15 minutes." To stop, tap Cancel. The card goes back to the start.

That code ran out

If you wait too long, the card says "That code ran out" and "Codes work for 15 minutes. Get a fresh one to finish connecting."

  1. Tap Get a new code. Telegram opens again.
  2. Tap START.

On a computer

Under Connect Telegram, the card says "Scan a code with your phone, or open Telegram on this computer."

  1. Tap Connect Telegram. The card says "Connect Telegram with your phone". It shows a QR code, a square pattern your phone camera can read.
  2. Point your phone camera at the QR code.
  3. Open the link. Telegram opens on your phone.
  4. Tap START.

The page changes by itself. Under "Other ways", you can tap Open Telegram here if Telegram is on your computer. Or send the code to @eveyla_bot.

Telegram alerts are on

When you are connected, the card says who gets the alerts, like "New orders ping Aisha on Telegram."

To stop, tap Disconnect. While it works, it says "Disconnecting…". Then the app says "Telegram alerts off." If it says "Couldn't disconnect Telegram. Try again.", tap Disconnect again.

What the order message says

Each new order message has:

  • "New order #12 · MVR 150.00", then your shop name
  • each item, like "2× Chocolate cake", with its choices under it
  • the customer's name and phone number
  • how they get it, like "Pickup" or "Delivery · Hulhumalé", then the address and any note
  • how they pay, like "Cash on delivery" or "Bank transfer · slip attached"
  • a button Open order #12, which opens the order in Eveyla

A long order ends the item list with a line like "and 2 more items". Tap Open order #12 to see them all.

A pre-order starts with "Pre-order #12 · MVR 150.00". It also says the day and time, like "For Fri 30 Oct, 14:00".

Pay link and credit book pings come here too, with a button. They say the same as the pings on your phone. See Get a ping for every new order.

Other messages can come to this chat:

What Eveyla Bot replies

  • "Connected. Order alerts for Example Shop will arrive here." It worked.
  • "That code didn't work. Codes last 15 minutes. Open Eveyla, tap Connect Telegram, and send the new code." The code was wrong, already used or too old.
  • "That link has expired. Open Eveyla and tap Connect Telegram again." You tapped START on an old link.
  • "Too many wrong codes. Wait an hour, or open Eveyla and tap Connect Telegram." Tap Connect Telegram in Eveyla, then tap START.
  • "Hi. To get order alerts here, send the 6-character code from Eveyla. You'll find it in Eveyla under Order alerts. It looks like K7P 4QX." The bot did not get a code from you.

When alerts stop by themselves

Sometimes Eveyla Bot cannot reach you, for example if you blocked it. Then your Telegram alerts turn off. No message tells you. The card shows "Get order alerts on Telegram" again. Tap Connect Telegram to connect again.

Who can use it

The owner connects the shop's Telegram here, in Settings. Senior managers and managers can connect their own Telegram. They use Order alerts on this phone in the shop menu. See Order alerts for your team. Staff cannot. Their sheet says "Telegram alerts go to the owner and managers."

Telegram alerts need a Storefront.

Common mistakes

The card still says "Waiting for Telegram…"

Nothing connects until you tap START. Go to Telegram and tap START at the bottom of the chat with Eveyla Bot. No START button? Send the code instead. If the app says "Couldn't start Telegram connect. Try again in a moment.", wait a little and tap Connect Telegram again.

Eveyla Bot says "That code didn't work"

The code was typed wrong, already used or too old. If the card says "That code ran out", tap Get a new code. If not:

  1. Tap Cancel in the card.
  2. Tap Connect Telegram.
  3. In Telegram, tap START, or send the new code.

Do the same if the bot says "That link has expired."

I added Eveyla Bot to a group

Alerts only come to your own chat with Eveyla Bot. The bot does not answer in groups. Connect from your own chat. Senior managers and managers can connect their own Telegram too. See Order alerts for your team.

My Telegram alerts stopped

Open Order alerts. If the card says "Get order alerts on Telegram" again, you are not connected any more.

  1. If you blocked Eveyla Bot, unblock it in Telegram.
  2. Go back to Eveyla.
  3. Tap Connect Telegram.
  4. In Telegram, tap START.

The alerts go to the wrong Telegram

The card says who gets them, like "New orders ping Aisha on Telegram."

  1. Tap Disconnect.
  2. Take the phone with the right Telegram account.
  3. On that phone, open Order alerts.
  4. Tap Connect Telegram.
  5. In Telegram, tap START.

Tip

The order message shows the items, the customer's phone and the address. Forward it in Telegram to your rider or kitchen helper. They see the whole order without opening Eveyla.
