What it is

The Items tab in Insights ranks the items you sold in the days you pick. You can rank them by pieces sold, by sales money or by profit. Tap any item to see its own numbers. To learn how Insights works and how to pick days, see See how your shop is doing.

Find it

  1. Tap Insights in the bar at the bottom.
  2. Tap Items at the top. It is the second tab.

All items on the Overview tab and the stock cards in Needs you open this tab too.

On a computer, Insights is in the bar on the left. The tabs are next to the Insights title.

Every setting

The days you see

At the top of the dark card is a pill (a round-ended button). It shows the days you see, like This month. Tap it to pick other days. Or use the two arrows at the right end of the same line. See See how your shop is doing.

Units, Sales and Profit

Three buttons on the dark card choose the order of your items:

  • Units: the item with the most pieces sold comes first.
  • Sales (picked when you start): the item that brought the most money comes first.
  • Profit: the item that made the most profit comes first. Profit is the money left after what the item costs you. Only items with a cost are ranked. To add costs, see Add what an item costs you.

When you leave the Items tab and come back, Sales is picked again.

Your best seller

The dark card shows your top item, with a big photo and its name. Above the name it says Your best seller. Under it is a line like "MVR 1,200 · 30 sold". In Profit, it says Most profit, with a line like "MVR 500 profit · 30 sold". Then a bar shows its part of all your sales, like "25% of all sales".

Tap the item to see its own numbers. If nothing sold, the card says "Nothing sold this month yet."

All items

Under the dark card, All items lists the items that sold, in the order you picked. Each row has a photo, the name, a number and a thin bar:

  • In Units: how many pieces, with "sold" under it.
  • In Sales: the money, like "MVR 1,200", with "30 sold" under it.
  • In Profit: the list is called Profit by item. Each row shows the profit and a line like "30 sold · costs MVR 20". A green box shows how much of its sales is profit, like "40%". At the top is a line like "MVR 500 profit from 4 items, at what they cost you today."

In Profit, items with no cost are at the bottom. They look faded and say "no cost yet". The owner sees Add cost. Tap it to open your Items page. Others see No cost yet.

Items you sell in packs show the unit, like "30 bottles sold". See Packs and barcodes: sell by the piece, pack or case.

Tap a row to see that item's numbers. If nothing sold, you see "No sales this month" and "Pick another period with the arrows above."

Running low

Running low shows items with little stock left. It shows only when some items are low. Each says Sold out or a number, like "3 left". Tap one to open your Items page. To add stock, see Add new stock and fix a count.

Item

Tap an item anywhere in Insights. A page called Item covers the screen. Under the title are the days you picked. To go back, tap the arrow at the top left.

At the top are the item's photo and name, and a line like "Sells for MVR 50". An item with sizes says "From MVR 50". If you added a cost, the line also says "costs you MVR 20", with a small lock. Then three boxes:

  • Sold: how many you sold. For pack items, it shows the unit, like "Sold, bottles".
  • Earned: the money it brought.
  • Profit: the profit. With no cost, the owner sees Add cost ›, which opens your Items page. Others see No cost yet.

The rest of the page, top to bottom:

  • Sold per day: a bar for each day. The busiest day has a label, like "Wed 8 · 3 sold". At the top right it says "busiest Wed 8". With no sales, it says "No sales in this period."
  • If it sold, a circle shows its share of your sales, like "25% of sales". The title says "A big part of your sales" or "Its share of your sales". Under it is a line like "40% margin at today's cost." Margin means the part of each sale you keep as profit. With no cost, it says "Add what it costs you to see the profit."
  • For an item with more than one size, each size has a row. It shows a line like "MVR 50 each" and "12 sold". Under that is its stock: "3 left", "Sold out" or "Not counted".
  • Stock: a line like "20 in stock", and "About 12 more days at this pace." If it did not sell in those days, the second line says "No sales yet to estimate."
  • If you do not count this item's stock, it says "Stock isn't counted". Under it: "Count it and we'll tell you how many days it lasts." See Keep count of your stock.
  • Edit item at the bottom opens your Items page. Tap the item there to change it. See Change an item's name, photos, price or details.

Sales by item report

The Sales by item report shows the items you sold in a list you can save or send. It also shows the items that did not sell. See Sales summary, sales by item and other free reports.

Who can use it

The owner and senior managers can open the Items tab. Only the owner gets the Add cost buttons. Managers and staff do not see Insights.

It needs a Storefront. It is not part of the free listing.

Common mistakes

Profit says "Add what each item costs you and your profit shows here."

None of the items that sold has a cost yet. The owner can add costs on the Items page. See Add what an item costs you.

Add cost or Edit item did not open my item

These buttons open your Items page, not the item. Find the item in the list and tap it.

Nothing happens when I tap an item

Some rows do not open. This happens for items you added with + Custom at the Counter (the POS tab). It also happens for items you deleted.

I pressed back and left Insights

The back button on your phone leaves Insights. To close the Item page, tap the arrow at the top left.

It says "No sales this month"

Nothing sold in the days you picked. Tap the left arrow to see the days before. Or tap the pill to pick other days.

Tip

Tap Units, then Profit. An item that sells a lot but makes little profit may need a new price. See Change an item's name, photos, price or details.
