What it is
A domain is a web address that is yours, like yourshop.com or yourshop.mv. With your own domain, customers open your shop at that address. Your shop.eveyla.com link keeps working and opens the same shop. Eveyla does the setup with you on WhatsApp.
Find it
- Tap Settings in the bar at the bottom.
- Scroll down to Your link.
- Tap Custom domain. It says Use your own web address under it. A sheet called Custom domain opens. (A sheet is a panel that covers part of the screen.)
On a computer, Settings is in the bar on the left.
You can also tap the Add-ons card near the top of Settings. Then tap Your own domain. It opens the same sheet. It says Being set up while Eveyla works on it. It says On your shop when your domain is live (working for customers). See Turn an add-on on or off.
If you do not see Custom domain, your shop is a free listing. A domain needs a Storefront. See Free listing and Storefront.
Every setting
To ask for your domain:
- Type your domain in the Your domain box, like yourshop.com. No domain yet? Leave the box empty.
- Tap Continue to payment at the bottom. A sheet called Pay setup fee opens.
- Tap the copy button next to the account number.
- Open your bank app.
- Send the setup fee to that account. The fee is the big number at the top of the sheet.
- Take a screenshot of the receipt your bank app shows. This is your payment slip.
- Go back to Eveyla.
- Tap Upload slip.
- Pick the slip. Its name shows on the button, with a tick.
- Tap Send request at the bottom.
The sheet now says Requested. Eveyla checks your slip, then messages you on WhatsApp.
On a computer, the sheet opens in the middle of the screen.
Custom domain
This is the first sheet. A box at the top shows the prices:
- One time setup: what you pay once, now.
- Then per month: what you pay each month.
- A line with your monthly bill once the domain is live.
Check the prices here before you pay.
If your last request was rejected, a red note is at the top. See "Request rejected" below.
Your domain
Type the domain you want. The box starts empty, with "yourshop.com" in grey as an example. Under it, the app says: "Have a domain already? Enter it here. No domain yet? Send the request anyway and we will sort one out with you on WhatsApp."
Three lines with ticks say:
- "Works with .com, .mv and most endings"
- "Your shop.eveyla.com link keeps working"
- "We do the technical setup with you on WhatsApp"
Pay setup fee
This sheet shows the setup price in big numbers. The Transfer to box shows the bank, the name and the account number. The copy button next to the account number copies it.
Upload slip takes a photo or a PDF file. After you pick one, the button shows its name. To change it, tap the button again and pick another file.
The app says the monthly fee "starts only when your domain is live. It goes on your normal monthly bill."
Send request stays grey until your slip is uploaded.
This sheet has no back button. To change your domain, close the sheet with the X and start again.
Requested and Setting up
After you send, the Custom domain row in Settings says "Requested. Checking your payment". Tap it. The sheet shows your domain and the label Requested (in capital letters). Then it shows three steps:
- Payment check: "We check your slip within one business day."
- Setup: "We message you on WhatsApp to connect the domain."
- Live: your monthly fee starts from here.
At the bottom, the sheet shows the day you sent it and the setup fee you paid.
If you left Your domain empty, the sheet says Custom domain where your domain would be.
When your slip is checked, the label says Setting up. The row says "yourshop.com · setting up", or only "Setting up" if you typed no domain. Step 1 gets a tick.
There is no button to cancel. To change your request, see Contact Eveyla.
Live
When your domain works, the row says "yourshop.com · live". The sheet says Live and "yourshop.com is live". Under it is your full web address. Tap the copy button next to it to copy your link.
The app says your shop.eveyla.com link "still works and opens the same shop. To change or remove your domain, message support." The last line shows your monthly fee.
Request rejected
If Eveyla could not accept your request, the row says "Request rejected. Tap for details".
- Tap Custom domain. The sheet opens with a red note at the top.
- Read the note. It says "Your last request was rejected." It may also say why.
- Ask Eveyla what to do next, before you pay again. See Contact Eveyla.
- To send again, follow the steps under "To ask for your domain" above.
What customers see on your domain
When your domain is live:
- Customers open your shop at your own address. Your basket and order pages are on it too. So is checkout (the last page, where customers place the order).
- At the top of your shop page, there is no Back button to the Eveyla shop list. The Eveyla name at the top is gone too.
- The browser tab shows your shop name, without "Eveyla".
- Pay links and order links you send from Eveyla start with your domain.
- A customer can add your shop to their phone's home screen from your domain. The icon has your shop name. It shows your logo. With no logo, it shows the first letters of your shop name.
Customers see"Aisha's Bakes · Order online" when your shop link shows in a chat or a browser tab.
Link pictures in chats
When someone shares your shop link in WhatsApp or Viber, the chat shows a picture card. With your own domain, the card uses your brand colour, if you picked one. Your domain is at the bottom, and there is no Eveyla name. See Share your shop link and QR code.
Links to a basket, checkout, order page or pay link show your shop name. For example, "Track your order · Aisha's Bakes" or "Pay Aisha's Bakes". They never show what was ordered or how much. See What customers see on a pay link.
Brand colours come free
With a live domain, you can pick your own shop colours at no extra cost. On the Colours page, the locked card says colours are "Free with your own domain." If your domain stops being live, your colours are kept. They come back when the domain is live again. See Brand colours.
Your Eveyla app stays at shop.eveyla.com
Your domain is for customers. You and your team still sign in and run your shop at shop.eveyla.com. If you try to sign in on your domain, Eveyla takes you to shop.eveyla.com. Sign in there.
If your Storefront is paused
Customers who open your domain see a page that says online orders are paused. If your phone numbers show on your shop, it has buttons to call or message you. See My storefront is paused.
Who can use it
Only the shop owner can ask for a domain and see its sheet. Senior managers, managers and staff do not see Settings.
A domain needs a Storefront. You pay a setup fee once, by bank transfer. Then you pay a fee each month on your bill. It starts the day your domain is live. You see both prices in the sheet before you pay.
Common mistakes
Send request is grey
Upload your slip first. Tap Upload slip and pick the slip.
A red box shows when I upload or send
If it says "That file is too big. Max 2 MB. A screenshot of the slip works best.", take a screenshot of your slip. Upload that. For any other message, try again. If it still shows, see Contact Eveyla.
I closed the sheet before I sent it
Nothing was sent. Tap Custom domain again. Type your domain again. Tap Continue to payment. Then upload the same slip again.
Open my shop shows my Eveyla link, not my domain
Open my shop on the Storefront page opens your shop.eveyla.com link. So does View storefront in the shop menu (tap your shop name at the top). It is the same shop. To see your shop on your domain, type your domain in your phone's browser.
I want a different domain
You cannot change it in the app. The sheet says "To change or remove your domain, message support." See Contact Eveyla.
Tip
When your domain is live, tap your shop name at the top. Then tap Copy link & QR. The link and the QR code (a square code that a phone camera can read) now use your domain. Print the QR code for your counter, bags and stickers.
