Add a headline to your shop page
Write a short headline and one line for the top of your shop page.
On this page
What it is
Cover text means the words at the top of your shop page. It has two parts: a Headline and a Sub line. Use them to say what you sell, or why customers should order from you. Cover text does not show on every look.
Find it
- Tap Settings in the bar at the bottom.
- Scroll down to Your link.
- Tap Storefront. It says Layout, look, colours under it. A page called Storefront opens.
- Under Style, tap Cover text. A page called Cover text opens.
At the top of Settings there is also a heading called Storefront. That is not the row you need. Tap the Storefront row under Your link.
On a computer, Settings is in the bar on the left.
On the Storefront page, the Cover text row says Not set until you save some words. Then it says Set.
If you do not see Storefront under Your link, your shop is a free listing. Cover text needs a Storefront. See Free listing and Storefront.
Every setting
To add your cover text:
- Tap the Headline box.
- Type your headline. For example: Fresh fish every morning.
- Tap the Sub line box.
- Type one line about your shop. For example: Delivered to your door before noon.
- Tap Save under the boxes.
A green "Saved." shows under the button. If you tap the back arrow before Save, your words are lost.
To check it:
- Tap the back arrow at the top left.
- Under Your shop, tap Open my shop.
To take your words off:
- Clear the Headline box.
- Clear the Sub line box.
- Tap Save.
The Cover text row on the Storefront page then says Not set.
Where your words show depends on your look:
- Shelf: on the white card at the top, under your shop name. The headline is a bold line. The sub line is under it.
- Feast, for grocery-type shops: in big white letters on the dark banner (a coloured box) at the top.
- Feast, for food shops: not shown.
- Market: not shown.
Food shops are shops with the category Home food, Restaurant & café, or Bakery & cakes. All other shops are grocery-type. To change your look, see Choose your shop's look. To see each look, see What customers see on your shop page.
With the Section builder add-on, you can pick the Name card style for your shop header. Your words then show on that card, on any look. See Section builder: change how each part looks.
Customers seeyour headline at the top of your shop page, like "Fresh fish every morning". Your sub line is under it.
Storefront hero
Under the page title is a white box. Its first heading is Storefront hero. Under it, the app says: "The words at the top of your storefront. Leave blank to use the defaults."
Headline
Your big line. You can type up to 60 letters. Next to Headline, a counter shows how many you used, like "24/60".
When the box is empty, it shows "The whole shop, one tap." in grey. That is only an example.
If you leave it empty:
- On Feast, grocery-type shops show "The whole shop, one tap." on the banner.
- On Shelf, no headline shows.
Sub line
One line about your shop, under the headline. You can type up to 160 letters. The counter shows how many you used, like "40/160".
When the box is empty, it shows your shop description in grey. With no description, it shows "One line about your shop."
If you leave it empty, grocery-type shops on Feast show your description in its place. On Shelf, your description is on the card already, so no sub line shows.
On Shelf, if your sub line is the same as your description, customers see it only once. You write your description in Logo, description & hours. See Add your logo, name and description.
Save
Save is grey until you change something. Tap it to save your words. A green "Saved." shows for a moment.
If a red message shows instead, your words were not saved. Check that your phone is online. Then tap Save again.
Under Save, a box shows how your words read. It shows your category in capital letters, then your headline, then your sub line. With no headline, it shows "The whole shop, one tap." With no sub line, it shows your description. With no category, it says SHOP ONLINE. The box is the same on every look, so check your real page with Open my shop.
Who can use it
Only the owner can change the cover text. Senior managers, managers and staff cannot open the Storefront page.
Cover text needs a Storefront. It is not part of the free listing.
Common mistakes
My headline does not show on my shop page
Check your look. Your words show on Shelf, and on Feast for grocery-type shops. They do not show on Market, or on Feast for food shops. See Choose your shop's look. Also check that you tapped Save.
I cannot type any more
The headline can have up to 60 letters. The sub line can have up to 160. Look at the counter next to each name. Use fewer words.
My words are gone
You left the page before you tapped Save. Type your words again. Then tap Save.
My sub line does not show on Shelf
Your sub line is the same as your description, so it shows only once. Write a different sub line, then tap Save.
Tip
Keep your headline short, so it fits on a phone screen. Say what you sell and one reason to order, like "Fresh tuna, at your door by noon". Use the sub line for your delivery area or your opening times.
