What it is
You can add a customer to any sale at the Counter (the POS tab). Their name shows on the receipt, and the sale counts in their sales. For a paid sale, this is optional. For a credit sale, you must pick a customer.
Find it
- Tap POS in the bar at the bottom. The Counter opens.
- Tap the items the customer wants.
- Tap Charge in the green bar at the bottom. A sheet called Charge opens. (A sheet is a panel that covers part of the screen.)
- Tap the Customer tile, under the amount, on the left. It says "Optional". A sheet called Pick a customer opens.
On a computer, tap Charge · MVR 85 at the bottom of the sale on the right.
If you do not see POS, see Turn on the Counter.
Every setting
To add a customer:
- Type their name or phone number in the Search name or phone box at the top.
- Tap their name in the list.
You are back on the Charge sheet. The Customer tile shows their name. If they are not in the list, see New customer below.
Customer
The tile on the Charge sheet shows:
- Customer and "Optional", when nobody is added.
- Pick a customer and "Needed for credit", in orange, when you tapped Credit and nobody is added. See Take cash, card, transfer or credit at the Counter.
- Their first letters and name, when someone is added. Under the name: "Owes MVR 350", "In credit MVR 50", "First sale", or something like "4 orders · MVR 1200 all time".
"Owes" means they have credit sales they have not paid. "In credit" means they paid you ahead. See Keep a credit book.
To change the customer, tap the tile again and pick someone else.
Search name or phone
Type part of a name, like "ais" for Aisha. Or type some of the numbers in their phone number. The list shows only the customers who match.
The customer list
People who owe you are at the top. Then everyone else, from A to Z. Each row shows:
- their first letters in a circle. The circle is orange if they owe you.
- their name. If only their phone number is saved, you see the number and "No name yet".
- how many orders they have and when the last one was, like "3 orders · last 5 days ago".
- on the right, what they owe in orange, or "Clear".
Customers who paid you ahead show "In credit MVR 50" in green.
While the list loads, it says "Loading…". If nobody is saved yet, or nobody matches your search, it says "No customers yet."
At the bottom, the app says: "Saved once, found forever. No more three different Ahmeds in the book."
New customer
- Tap New customer, under the search box.
- Type their name in the Name box.
- If you want, type their number in the Phone · optional box.
- Tap Save customer.
The customer is saved and added to the sale. Save customer stays grey until there is a name. To stop, tap Cancel.
If it does not save, a red box says why, or "Couldn't save. Try again."
Save a phone number as a new customer
Type a full phone number that no customer has. A green row shows "Save", the number you typed, and "as a new customer". Tap it. The customer is saved with only that phone number, and added to the sale. You can add their name later. See Your customers.
No customer
To take the customer off the sale:
- Tap the Customer tile. It shows their name.
- Tap No customer, at the top of the list.
No customer does not show when you picked Credit, because a credit sale needs a customer.
After the sale
Customers seetheir name on the receipt, next to "Customer".
The Sale complete sheet shows a card with their name. Under it are their sales, like "4 sales · MVR 1200 all time". The owner, senior managers and managers can tap See customer to open their page.
Pay links and the credit book
For a pay link, the Customer tile is not there. Tap Add who it's for instead. It opens the same Pick a customer sheet. See Send a pay link.
You can also start a credit sale from the credit book. In Write it down, tap Pick items at the Counter instead. The Counter opens. Tap the items, then tap Charge. Credit is already picked. If you picked someone already in your book, they are added too. See Keep a credit book.
Who can use it
Everyone who can use the Counter can add a customer, or save a new one. That is the owner, senior managers, managers and staff.
Only the owner, senior managers and managers can open a customer's page.
The Counter needs a Storefront.
Common mistakes
I can't find the customer
Try their phone number instead of their name. If the list says "No customers yet.", nobody matches what you typed. Check the spelling. If they are new, tap New customer.
No customer is not in the list
You picked Credit, and a credit sale needs a customer. To take the customer off, tap Cash, Card or Transfer first.
The customer is gone from my sale
You closed the Charge sheet. The customer does not stay when the sheet closes. Tap Charge again and add them again.
Save customer is grey
Type a name in the Name box. The phone number is optional.
Tip
Search before you tap New customer. Then you will not save the same person twice, and all their sales stay together.
