What it is

A box is an item that customers fill themselves. For example, a gift hamper where they pick 6 things. Or a meal combo where they pick 3 dishes. You set the price of the box itself. What they pick is added on top. You choose how many items go in and which items they can pick.

Find it

  1. Tap Items in the bar at the bottom.
  2. Tap the name or photo of the item that will be your box, not the button on the right of its row.
  3. Tap the box button in the round buttons under the tiles. Its name depends on your shop category: Combo, Hamper, Set or Bundle.

If you do not see the box button, tap All. Then tap it in the list.

To make a new item for your box first, see Add your first item.

On a computer, Items is in the bar on the left.

Every setting

To make a box:

  1. Tap the box button. A panel opens with the same name, for example Hamper. The app says: "Customers fill it with your other items. The price you set is for the hamper itself. What they pick is added on top."
  2. Next to Fewest items, tap + or − to set the least number of items.
  3. Under Customers pick from, tap Everything or Items I choose.
  4. Tap Done at the top right. The box button turns green.

With Items I choose, also pick the items. See Choose items and Spaces per size below.

The price of the box is on the item's Price tile. The tile now says "Base" and "plus what they pick". For a box with no charge of its own, set the price to 0. See Change an item's name, photos, price or details.

Customers see

your boxes in their own part of your shop page. Each box has a card with its photo, name and description. The card shows a "From" price, like "From MVR 120". Next to it is the box price, like "MVR 50 + your picks". With a price of 0, it says "just your picks". The card also shows a few of the items they can pick. With no photo, it shows a drawing of a tray.

Customers see it as

This is a small label on your box, like Hamper, Gift box, Bundle or Set. The words you can pick depend on your shop category.

When you turn the box on, the first word is picked for you. Tap another word to change it. The box button and the panel title change to the word you pick. Tap the picked word again to clear it. With no word, customers see "Choose your own".

Customers see

the label as a title above the box on your shop page. Next to it, they see "Pick what goes in". The label also shows on the box card.

Fewest items

The least number of items a customer must pick. The app says "Checkout blocks it under this". Checkout is the last page, where customers place the order. This means customers cannot order the box with fewer items. It starts at 4.

Under the settings, a note says the rule, like "Takes 4 or more items."

Customers see

"Pick 4 or more" on the box card. Until they pick enough, the button at the bottom says "Pick 2 more". They cannot add the box yet.

Most items

The most items that fit. The app says "Optional". It starts at No limit. Tap + to set a number. The first number you see is the same as Fewest items. To go back to No limit, tap − until it says No limit.

Customers see

"Pick 4 to 6" on the card. When they try to add one more, they see a note with your box's name, like "Gift hamper holds up to 6 items." When both numbers are the same, the card says "Pick 6" and the button says Pick your 6.

Room in the box

Use this when some items are bigger than others. The app says "In spaces, for mixing small and big". It starts at No limit. Leave it at No limit if every item is about the same size.

To set it, tap +. The first number you see is the same as Fewest items. To go back to No limit, tap − until it says No limit.

Each item takes 1 space unless you change it. For example, a melon can take 2 spaces and an apple 1. Set the spaces in Spaces per size or Choose items (see below).

Under the settings, a note says Fits and lists what can go in, like "2 large + 2 items". If every item takes 1 space, the app says: "Every item takes 1 space, so room and Most items say the same thing."

Customers see

"8 spaces" on the box card. In the box, they see a row of slots that fill up as they pick. A line says, for example, "5 of 8 spaces". If an item does not fit, they see a message like "Melon needs 2 spaces, 1 left in the box."

Customers pick from

You have two choices:

  • Everything (picked when you start): customers can pick any of your items. Under it, tap Spaces per size to set how much room items take.
  • Items I choose: customers pick only from items you choose. Until you choose, it says "No items chosen yet" and "Until you choose, they pick from everything". Tap Choose to pick them. After that it says something like "5 of 20 items chosen".

Other boxes are never in the list.

Choose items and Spaces per size

Tapping Choose opens a sheet called Choose items. (A sheet is a panel that covers part of the screen.) Tapping Spaces per size opens a sheet with that name.

In Choose items:

  1. Tap the small box on the left of each item customers can pick. A green tick shows.
  2. Tap Save picks at the bottom. Next to it, the app says how many you chose, like "Chosen 5 of 20".
  3. Tap Done at the top right.

To pick a whole category, tap Select all next to its name. Tap Clear all to clear it. To find an item, type in the Search box. If nothing matches, it says "No items found."

Both sheets have a card called Spaces per size. It has a − and + for each size name, like Large, and for Items with one size. Under each item, you can also change one size or one item on its own. In the Spaces per size sheet, tap Save at the bottom. Then tap Done.

The app says: "Applies to every item with that size name, in every box you sell. Change one item below if it differs." So check your other boxes after you change it.

Turn off the box

At the bottom of the panel, tap Turn off hamper. It uses your box word, like Turn off combo. The item goes back to a normal item.

What customers see when they fill the box

Customers tap Choose your items on the box card. When both numbers are the same, it says Pick your 6. A sheet opens with the box name. At the top, it says the box price and the rule, like "Box MVR 50. Pick 6 items." With a price of 0, it says "No box charge."

  1. Customers tap + next to each item they want.
  2. Each pick fills a slot. To take one out, they tap a filled slot or tap −.
  3. At the bottom, they see "Box + 6 items" and the total.
  4. They tap Add box · MVR 180 to put it in their basket.

If an item has extras that must be picked, customers choose them before it goes in the box. Items that are Sold out show "Sold out".

Customers see

the box as one line in their basket, with the items inside and the box total.

Who can use it

The owner, senior managers and managers can make and change boxes. Staff do not see the Items tab.

Boxes need a Storefront. On a free listing there is no Items tab.

Common mistakes

The box says "4 items won’t fit in 3 spaces"

The Room in the box is too small for the Fewest items. An orange note in the panel also says "This hamper can’t sell until it fits." If you tap Done, a red message says it too. Tap + on Room in the box, or lower Fewest items. Then tap Done.

Customers see "Items that ask you a question can't go in a box"

Items that ask customers a question cannot go in a box. This includes digital items with questions. Leave them out of the box:

  1. Open the box item, as in Find it above.
  2. Tap the box button, like Hamper.
  3. Tap Items I choose.
  4. Tap Choose.
  5. Tick each item customers can pick. Items that ask a question must have no tick.
  6. Tap Save picks.
  7. Tap Done at the top right.

The box button is pale and says "Not with sizes"

A box cannot be on together with Sizes, Packs, Digital, Launch later or Ask. The pale words name the one that is on. Open that feature. Turn it off with the button at the bottom of its panel. Then tap the box button again.

My box does not show on my shop

If you use the section builder, your boxes are the part called Gift boxes. When it is switched off, no box shows on your shop. Switch it on. See Section builder: design your shop page. Also check that the tile next to Price on the box says Shown.

Customers see "This shop has no items to pick yet."

There are no items customers can pick. Add more items, and make sure they are Shown. See Mark an item sold out or hide it.

Tip

Add a photo of a full box to the box item. Customers then see what they could get, instead of a drawing of an empty tray.
