What it is

A block is a part of your page that you write yourself. Use it to tell customers something your page does not say yet. For example, your prayer break on Fridays, why your fish is fresh, or answers to common questions.

Blocks are part of the Section builder add-on. Writing a block yourself is free. Grow can also write one for you, with Grow credits. See Section builder: share a preview and ask Grow.

Find it

  1. Tap Settings in the bar at the bottom.
  2. Scroll down to Your link.
  3. Tap Storefront. It says Layout, look, colours under it.
  4. Under Style, tap Sections. A page called Your page opens.
  5. Scroll down to Down the page.
  6. Tap Add a block here. It is above Policy note. A sheet called Add a block opens. (A sheet is a panel that covers part of the screen.)

On a computer, click Add a block on the right when no part is picked. The button in the list on the left works too.

Every setting

To add a block:

  1. Tap Add a block here.
  2. Tap the kind of block you want, like Notice. A sheet with that name opens.
  3. Fill in the boxes. Each kind is explained below.
  4. Tap Done at the bottom.
  5. Tap Save at the bottom right of Your page.

Your block is now in Down the page, above Policy note. Its row shows your heading, and under it the kind, like "Notice block".

Under the boxes, the app says: "Changes show in the preview. Nothing is live until you tap Save."

If you tap Done before you write anything, the block goes away. The X at the top of the sheet works like Done.

Add a block

The sheet says: "Write it yourself for free, or tap Ask Grow and Grow writes one for you." Ask Grow is the button at the bottom left of Your page.

There are five kinds of block:

  • Notice: "Closed days, prayer times, holiday notes"
  • Picture and text: "One of your item photos, a heading, a line and a button"
  • Highlights: "Three short points with icons"
  • Questions: "Up to six questions and answers that open and close"
  • Text: "A heading and a few lines in your own words"

The Heading and Text boxes count your letters as you type, like "12 of 80".

Notice

  • Heading: the box shows "e.g. Closed Friday 12:00 to 14:00" in grey. That is only an example.
  • Text: a few lines under the heading.
Customers see

a box in your shop colour with an "i" sign, your heading in bold and your text under it.

Picture and text

Under Photo, tap one of your item photos. Or tap No photo. You can only use photos of your own items. Hidden items are not in the list. When you have a lot of photos, a Find an item box shows at the top.

Then fill in Heading, Text, and if you want, Button (optional) and Goes to. See Button (optional) and Goes to below.

Customers see

a card with your photo across the top, then your heading, your text and your button.

Highlights

  • Heading (optional): a title over your points.
  • Up to three points: each point has an icon list on the left and a box on the right. Tap the list to pick an icon: Delivery, Promise, Swaps, Star, Time, Fresh, Gift, Heart, Price or Phone. Star is picked when you start. Type your words in the boxes. They show Point 1, Point 2 and Point 3 in grey.

The app says: "Empty points are left out."

Customers see

up to three small tiles side by side. Each tile has your icon in your shop colour and your words.

Questions

  • Heading (optional): the box shows "Good to know" in grey.
  • Tap Add a question. A card called Question 1 shows.
  • Type the question in the box that says The question.
  • Type the answer in the box that says Your answer.

Tap Add a question again for more. You can add up to six. To take one out, tap the red bin on its card.

Customers see

a card with your heading, or "Good to know". They tap a question to open its answer.

Text

  • Heading: a big title.
  • Text: a few lines in your own words.
  • Button (optional) and Goes to: see below.
Customers see

your heading in big letters, your text and your button.

Button (optional) and Goes to

Picture and text and Text blocks can have a button.

  1. Type the button words in Button (optional). The box shows "e.g. See dive lights" in grey.
  2. Tap Goes to.
  3. Pick one of your categories or items.

The button needs both. If one is missing, the app says "Pick where the button goes, or it will not show." or "Write the button words, or it will not show."

Customers see

your button. It opens the item you picked, or jumps to the category.

Change a block

  1. Tap the block's row in Down the page. Its sheet opens.
  2. Change what you need.
  3. Tap Done.
  4. Tap Save.

A block Grow wrote says "made by Grow" on its row. This goes away when you change the block yourself.

Move, hide or remove a block

  • To move it, tap Reorder next to Down the page. Then tap the up or down arrow. See Section builder: design your shop page.
  • To hide it, tap its switch. The row says "Switched off".
  • To remove it, tap the block's row. Tap Remove at the bottom. It turns red and says Tap again to remove. Tap it again.

Then tap Save.

Who can use it

Only the shop owner can add blocks. Senior managers, managers and staff do not see Settings.

Blocks need a Storefront and the Section builder add-on. You can see the price in the add-on store. Writing a block yourself is free. A block Grow writes uses Grow credits.

Common mistakes

An orange note says Nothing shows yet

The block is still empty, so customers would see nothing. The note tells you what to add:

  • "Nothing shows yet. Write a heading or some text." (Notice and Text)
  • "Nothing shows yet. Pick a photo or write a heading." (Picture and text)
  • "Nothing shows yet. Write at least one point." (Highlights)
  • "Nothing shows yet. Add a question with its answer." (Questions)

A question has an orange line around it

The question or its answer is missing. The app says "Add an answer, or this question will not show." or "Write the question, or this answer will not show." Fill in both, or tap the red bin.

There are no photos to pick

The app says "Add a photo to one of your items first, then pick it here." See Change an item's name, photos, price or details.

If it says "Could not load your items.", tap Try again next to it. While your items load, it says "Loading your items…".

If it says "The picked item is hidden or has no photo now, so no photo shows. Pick another.", tap another photo. Then tap Done and Save.

My button does not show on my shop

Check that the button has words and a Goes to choice. If you hid the item or deleted the category it goes to, the button is gone too. Pick a new Goes to, then tap Save.

My block is not on my shop

Tap Save and wait until it says All saved. Check that the block's switch is green.

Tip

Add a Questions block with the questions customers ask you most on WhatsApp, like when you deliver or how to pay. Customers find the answer on your page, and you get fewer of the same messages.
