What it is

When your shop is registered for GST, you file a GST return with MIRA (the Maldives tax office). This report shows the GST on your Eveyla sales for a month or a quarter. You can copy each number with one tap. It is free with your Storefront.

The Bills and GST add-on does more. Its GST return also takes off the GST on your bills and helps you file. See Bills and GST: your GST return.

Find it

GST must be on for your shop first. See Add GST to your prices.

  1. Tap Insights in the bar at the bottom.
  2. Tap the round button with a page picture, at the top right. A page called Reports opens.
  3. Scroll down to the Charges and tax group.
  4. Tap GST return. It says "GST on sales" under it.
Insights on a phone. The round button with a page picture, at the top right, is marked.

To skip the scrolling, tap the Charges and tax button above the list first.

On a computer, Insights is in the bar on the left, and the button says Reports.

If the row says "Turn on GST in Settings first", GST is off. The owner taps the row. Settings opens at Tax & GST.

Every setting

GST return

This is the title of the page. Under it, you see your GST rate and how your prices work. For example, "GST 8%, inside your prices" or "GST 8%, added at checkout". Checkout is the last page, where customers place the order. This comes from Tax & GST in Settings. When your shop has a TIN (tax number), it shows on the right, after the word TIN.

On this page, 8% is only an example. The screen shows your own GST rate.

This month, Last month, Last quarter

These buttons choose the days for this report. Last month is picked when you start.

  • This month: from the 1st of this month to today.
  • Last month: all of last month.
  • Last quarter: the last full quarter (three months). For example, in October, November or December, it is July to September.

This report has its own days. The days at the top of Reports do not change it.

GST on sales

The dark card says "GST on sales for September", or "GST on sales for the last quarter". The big number is the GST on your sales.

Under it are two buttons:

  • Copy GST: copies the GST amount. The app says what it copied, like "Copied · 1234.56".
  • Copy sales at 8%: copies your sales at 8%, with the GST inside them. It is a whole number, like "Copied · 16667".

Paste each number where your MIRA return asks for it.

How we got there

This card shows the numbers behind the GST. Some rows show only when your sales have them.

  • All sales: everything you sold in those days.
  • Service charge collected: the service charge on those sales.
  • Zero-rated items: sales of items with no GST. You mark these with No GST in the item sheet. It opens when you tap an item on the Items page.
  • Out of scope: sales that are outside GST.
  • Plastic bag fee: the bag fees you charged.
  • GST charged on bag fees: the GST on bag fees. It can show a plus or a minus.
  • Sales at 8% (GST included): the sales that have GST. This is the number Copy sales at 8% copies.
  • The last row, like "GST is 8 of every 108": the GST on those sales. It is the same as the big number.

Under the card, the app reminds you that this report uses only your Eveyla sales. Cancelled and refunded sales are left out. Check your own records before you file with MIRA.

Download the workings

  1. Tap Download the workings at the bottom.
  2. Your phone downloads a small CSV file. You can open it with Excel or Google Sheets.

The file has the numbers behind the card, and the first and last day of the report. Keep it with your records, or send it to your accountant.

Who can use it

The owner and senior managers can open this report. Only the owner can turn on GST in Settings. Managers and staff do not see Insights.

It needs a Storefront, with GST on. It does not need an add-on. When your shop has the Bills and GST add-on, GST return opens the add-on's GST return instead. See Bills and GST: your GST return.

Common mistakes

The row says "Turn on GST in Settings first"

GST is off for your shop. The owner taps the row and turns on GST in Tax & GST. See Add GST to your prices. Senior managers see "The owner turns on GST in Settings". Ask the owner.

The numbers are lower than my real sales

The report counts only sales made in Eveyla. Cancelled and refunded sales are left out. A deposit you keep on a cancelled pre-order counts as a sale. If you also sell outside Eveyla, add those sales yourself before you file.

I need an older month

This report shows only This month, Last month and Last quarter. Each time you file, tap Download the workings and keep the file.

It says "Couldn't copy"

Your phone did not let the app copy. Read the big number on the dark card. Then read the Sales at 8% (GST included) row in How we got there. Type both into your MIRA return yourself.

It says "Couldn't load the GST report"

Check that your phone is online. Tap the arrow at the top left. Then tap GST return again.

Tip

Open this report at the start of each month. It opens on Last month. If you file every three months, tap Last quarter. Copy the two numbers. Then tap Download the workings. Now you have everything ready for MIRA.
